Taking the leap in a rural town of carnivores!

Date: March 22, 2010 03:54AM I have started to follow a raw diet, with help from info I have found here and on youtube....
I watched my husband be consumed by cancer 3 years ago, which was all the motivation I need to change my lifestyle and hopefully give my 12 year old a healthier life. One of my biggest challenges is living in a town surrounded by some of the biggest cattle ranches in the country, and and no natural food stores for over 100 miles is going to be fun.... but not impossible. I would love some advice on purchasing a dehydrator, and I am unclear about "sproutin" nuts. I am very appreciative sites like this exist for us "Raw virgins" Marliegh Re: Taking the leap in a rural town of carnivores!

First, I tried an oven with the door open and set on the lowest temperature. Then I tried a cheap used dehydrator with a thermometer in it. Neither was satisfactory. Someday I'll get one with temperature control, but it's been 9 months so far and I've actually done fine without one. Good luck on your new lifestyle, Marleigh! Date: March 22, 2010 10:03AM Well, good luck.
firstly, when dealing with nuts you do more of just a soaking. most nuts are best soaked for about 8-12 hours and then either refrigerated or dehydrated under 118 degrees. what you'll need is a dehydrator that has a thermostat. without a thermostat it is very laborious to maintain live food. i am sorry about your husband, i can't imagine. I hope that gives you the strength to not follow the herd.(pun not intended, though it is hard to miss) good luck, it is easy once you cross over into the light. in life, the transition is hard, but it is really what humans live for.
