hi guys! I'm new...

I am not new to healthful eating, I have been on and off macro diet for years and have always eaten well. I only eat a little fish once in awhile, but try not to eat animal products in general. I am definitely new to raw foodism and VERY exited! I've been interested in this for years and for some reason, now is the time. At this point my biggest concern is cost. I plan on eating 75% fruits and veggies and my fam will definitely follow suit so it is going to be COSTLY! Any suggestions? I do not have access to a CSA and our Farmer's Market is a joke. Thank you!

Grow your own sprouts.

Look for what's in season. (e.g., When celery is cheaper in season, make stuffings with whatever and fill celery stalks. That makes the ingredients in the fillings go further.)

Watch for marked down fruit and vege. (e.g., I get all my bananas from the bin with "baking bananas" which are just the really ripe ones, but cheaper and perfect for me.)

Shop at different stores for the best prices. (e.g., Mangoes are $1 different at stores in my town.)

When you find a great low price on something make lots of different things with it. (e.g., If oranges are cheap, eat them alone, as juice, in smoothies, in salads as slices, in salad dressings, in mixed fruit salads...)

Start a garden or grow just a few things in pots on your window ledge.

When you have spare money, plant a fruit tree for the future.

On the recipe forum here I listed a lot of recipes for fillings for lettuce wraps. (See "Wraps Galore"winking smiley Put smaller amounts of the more expensive stuffing. It's good to eat more green leafy stuff anyway.

Good luck!
