Coco Chronicles,

I gave myself the name Sharrhan in 1978 when I started playing music professionally because I didn't like the name my parents gave me. Sharrhan is Hindi and it means 'refuge' or 'sustenance.' Pronounced Shuh-ron, emphasis on second syllable.

So far I haven't met any one else on the web who has the same name-- at least not spelled this way.

My apologies!! I thought it was pronounced like the name "Sharon"...

Either way it is a lovely name. What instruments do you play?

i agree - radiant is the word i would use to describe everyone here! So beautiful a testiment to raw!

<What instruments do you play?>

I play flutes (C & alto) and I sing; I create music for meditation using digital delays (electronic echo boxes) that allow me to accompany and harmonize with myself in layers of sound.

I'm checking my 'preview' here and wondering why my signature that I updated isn't coming up. ;-/ Guess I'll have to try to do it again later.

Ela, what's the story of the first durian pic? Let me guess. You are standing by the durian shop, Thailand (wild guess), the smiling guy has just sold the durians to you, you hold a weekly supply of durians, and you rented the motorbike. Anywhere near the truth?

Yes, in Thailand, on Koh Samui, July 2005. The folks that I was staying with had agreed to send some durian seeds to a guy in Costa Rica. The idea was to send him 30 seeds representing 15 of the finest wild 'durian ban' varieties that grow on Samui (it seems like because it's an island it hosts some particularly fine ones).

Because they're wild, getting the ideal seed is hit and miss a little, so my friend Gary, who was also staying with them (and took the pic) and I went on a mission going to all the best family-owned durian stands on the island (by then I knew those and had enough Thai to sort of get by) and buy some durian from each of them. When we got it home, we had a _HUGE_ durian feast being _very_ careful not to damage the seeds while eating. We saved 30 or so seeds from the best tasting durians and prepared a special package to mail to Costa Rica!

So most of that durian was gone the same day! There were 5 of us eating them but that is about the most blissfully stuffed I've ever been in my life! I hope the guy in Costa Rica gets some beautiful trees out of it.

Hey, I can not for the life of me get a picture in my Signature.
I've tried:

I'll type img and the picture that's from a web-link and
Nothing works.
It will just show the picture as a link.

You have to put the http:// before the www.
