Aloha gang... I was planning on waiting until my one year raw anniversary to get some photos taken of myself to post my before-afters (you know, for the WOW factor). But I have a good friend who lives in Colorado who is considering going raw, and I wanted to give her some inspiration, so I snapped some photos in the mirror this morning and decided... oh, what the heck!

Raw foods has given me my life back, and I'm not really talking about the weight loss, which has been dramatic and of course welcome. But its how I feel that is so amazing to me: Alive. Vibrant. Well. Joyful. Connected. Awake. Unflappable. Nourished. Happy.

This community has been important to me, I appreciate you all very much. Mahalo nui everyone!

thanks alot RN. i have to say, its pretty disconcerting to see those photos of me from last summer posted in a public place. as happy as i am for how far i have come from that, its still tough to look at those and remember being that person: tired, energetically depleted, anxious, worried, acid reflux, constipation, bad knees, aching feet. that big smile was all for show, i was dreading having my picture taken that day. i felt like i was 100 years old. now i feel like i've stepped into a time machine. i might be and look 38 (my age), but i feel like i'm 28, and sometimes i even feel like i'm 18. and sometimes 8.

raw foods gives me my best self every day. that makes me a better parent, sister, daughter, friend, coworker, human being. that's my gift to the world.

as it turns out, the natural state for humans is not depression, anxiety, fear, degeneration, or chronic illnesses as we age. the natural state for human beings is what raw foods gives us the best chances of having: emotional clarity, physical health, vitality, and wellbeing. i found that out for myself, so i know its true.

i am grateful to the online community of rawfoodists, all of y'all. we've got celery, and we have each other. what can stop us?
