Date: December 28, 2008 03:43PM Hi Brad
If it's not frozen where you are, dandelion roots can be potted and will grow indoors.... it's still green here (ACK) and the foraging is good.. roots, greens, a few dried berries.. A potted pineapple crown (from last spring) is under a 15w bulb supplementing for those cloudy days.. it's holding its own awaiting outdoor planting this spring. Aloe vera is one of my favorite medicinal herbs, though don't have a potted plant.. Cheers Re: I want ideas for my next grow!!! Ten suggestions..please!!

Date: December 28, 2008 04:16PM We do micro greens now -- cilantro, chard, lettuces, broccoli, arugula. Our kale is STILL alive -- outside!! In Massachusetts!! Even with a foot of snow (which is now melting)! In the greenhouse (unheated) is greens, more kale, onions -- hmm, I don't know what else. I should go check it out!! I love growing squash, the way they grow like mad in the summer sun and give you such fruits, and the striking orange edible blossoms.... that's cool that you grew one inside ha ha, I'm not familiar with the little shop of horrors, but know how zuke plants go from glorious to raggedy pretty quickly. Date: December 30, 2008 01:56AM cool , i find stuff tastes better in dirt rather then 100% pure hydroponics .. i use some watering techniques from hydropons and grow in dirt too
before the big D (divorce) iwas experimenting with various %'s of pure worm castings .. i grew a giant cucumber (in 100% worm castings) that im frantically checking computers for the picture for it cuz it was the size of a small dog lol of course it didnt taste that great by the time it got that size it was kinda tough but its fun to expirement with i shoulda grown a giant pickle and just had 1 per jar !!! hahah !!! i kinda hard a discussion with this greenhouse guy who said dirt or water had nothing to do with the taste of the product , he said the taste is in the genetic code and depending how hybrid the plants become depends on the taste of the fruit, but im not sure i buy that cuz ive grown the same seeds in water then in dirt and there is a definite taste improvement in the dirt grown. not sure of the science behind it .. just my own results ...Jodi, the banana eating buddhist Re: I want ideas for my next grow!!! Date: December 30, 2008 02:56PM Im a firm believer in dirt grown produce.
There is something very spiritual about eating food that Mother Nature has provided for me. Im extremely careful about my fertilizers as well. Always organic. I found it very hard to find decent pre-mixed dirt until i found roots organic. Im hoping to be completely Raw by Feb. Im extremely excited!! I have an old school "sour pickle" recipe if you want it...it was from my grandmother who was an old school farmer from Vermont. There is nothing more "puckery" than nanas pickle recipe. I havent eaten them in years but my eyes are watering already....lol. Snow last night....just a dusting. My dog needs a walk..... Re: I want ideas for my next grow!!! Ten suggestions..please!!

One medicinal herb I like is Rosemary. I used to put some in hot water and steam my face over it when I was all SAD and would get sinus infections. It helped. Since changing my diet I don't have to do that anymore but it still is a great smelling plant. It can be a nice food flavoring too although some don't like to use stimulating spices. The plant can get large so you can keep it cut way back if you want. Good Luck, Kit Re: I want ideas for my next grow!!! Ten suggestions..please!!

Date: April 14, 2009 02:37AM I just got onto this forum and its pretty exciting for me!!
Just wondering how the little plants are coming along? I have tons of little seedlings on my counter right now, which are completely cute and fun! However, I felt a little "lack mentality" when I planted, so I put in like 20 seeds per cell/pot in some of them, like parsley, lavender, johnny jump up, basil, etc, and now they are all coming up!! yikes! I'm getting a slightly late start, but having fun never the less. just checking how yours are doing? Re: I want ideas for my next grow!!! Ten suggestions..please!!
