Date: August 20, 2011 08:12PM Last night I went to a brief meeting with my community garden to discuss fall planting. I was able to choose a few packets My choice? Beets, broccoli and baby carrots. I also have some red leaf lettuce at home that I was waiting to plant when September comes along.
I wonder how many gardeners make a point of planting in the fall... Re: Fall planting

Can the child within my heart rise above? Can I sail through the changing ocean tides? Can I handle the seasons of my life? Re: Fall planting

Date: September 09, 2011 01:36AM Tell me how it goes. My broccoli and carrots have sprouted up nicely within the week Beets are a bit behind but I see growth also. And I just planted some heirloom lettuce so that'll be cool. But my kale didn't do so hot. I think you have to make successive plantings and I just had one plant in the heart of summer. Kale is more for cooler temps. Did you know you can harvest even under snow? How cold does it get up there in N.CA? Re: Fall planting

Date: September 09, 2011 11:25PM hehe, doesnt get cold enough for there to be snow very often, and then, its usually no more than a few inches max, sometimes we get a bit more, but not enough to be an issue for most fairly hardy plants... mmmmm broccoli, I love broccoli sprouts too, but they are pretty darn expensive, broccoli seeds are not cheap,lol... good luck with your plants, I'll let ya know how my kale does --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oh, mirror in the sky What is love?
