Seeking raw-friendly organic farming volunteer opportunities

Date: February 24, 2007 06:35PM I will be traveling through the southwest and west coast this spring and summer and would like to help a farm/permaculture community achieve its goals while gathering as much experiential knowledge about growing food and living sustainably as I can. I'm particularly interested in communities that are growing a diverse array of fruits, incorporate permaculture, veganic growing methods, soil remineralization via application of rock dust, primitive/off-the-grid living, orchard farming and tree planting/pruning, wild foods and wildcrafting, primitive survival skills, identification and study of local native plants and native animal species, and alternative shelters and building skills (wigwam, cob, straw-bale, earthship, etc). I have two seasons' experience volunteering on an organic vegetable farm in Nebraska.
I would love to meet other folks interested in natural hygiene, zen buddhism, yoga, meditation, music...really any creative and positive spiritual development that brings us closer to the Earth. Any suggestions or contacts would be much appreciated. Re: Seeking raw-friendly organic farming volunteer opportunities

Wish I could say I've got something for you. But no. Just a few comments. The things you wrote about are the things in some people that inspire me to return to the US. I'm now living in South Korea. I'll be back in the US after many years in Asia. I'm going back to be closer to my parents. But what will I do? Well, hopefully some of the things you mentioned. Zen Buddhism, organic gardening, yoga, raw foods, alternative construction, animals, native animals and plants, and landscaping are some of my interests. I've been looking around for Zen temples and intentional communities. I've got some places bookmarked and have contacted some places. When I get back I'll visit some places. I wish you all the best in your travels and everything else. Thanking you for the inspiration, and returning it to you, Troy. This way is not compatible with Zen practice. Thanks for your support and well-wishes. I imagine you will find a lot of joy becoming reacquainted with the various ecosystems and plants and animals in the US after being away for years. Maybe we will cross paths at some point! All the best in your adventures... Adam Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
