sprouting "weed" seeds

have any of you ever tried sprouting edible "weed" seeds? I've had this in my mind for a while, just wondering if any of you have tried it and have any thoughts or advice on this. I'm thinking about wild edible plants, which in my part of the world mould mean e.g. nettle, dandelion, burnet, yarrow etc. could be excellent sprouts for the winter i'm thinking!

Here're some seeds the Miwok Indians of Yosemite in California collected:

An article on evolution discussed a new combine that sifted out all small seeds from the wheat to eliminate weeds. In just 2-3 years the weeds were making seeds almost as big as the wheat. If you sift the weed seeds you collect and plant the big ones back out in the wilds you could have some nice big wild weed seeds in a few years!
