I am new to sprouting. I sprouted green peas for 5 days. the green sprout is about 2" above the pea. There is also a long root on the other side of the pea. What do I eat? Thanks so much. Shirah

You should be able to eat any and all parts of the pea sprout. Personally, I like to grow pea sprouts for two weeks, and then use just the greens as the base of a salad. This is especially nice in the winter.

You eat the part you like. For some sprouts I find the root end a bit bitter. You can snap the root ends off by hand, but it's easier to grab a bunch, flip while holding them, then cut the roots off with kitchen shears. Most roots taste fine thought, especially lentils.

I tried to grow some pea sprouts last week and I was dissappointed that they were bitter. I thought perhaps they were old sprouts, or that I did something wrong. Perhaps both were the case. I bought the sprouts at www.emergencyessentials.com about 5 years ago. They were sealed in mylar bags. I also forgot to cover the sprouts so they were always exposed to light. Something I learned today not to do. I'm a beginner, too. Still trying to figure things out. Looking forward to eating more healthy, too.
