Date: December 30, 2009 08:10PM Hi Y'all,
I just got a Vitamix, a food processor, and a dehydrator and am planning on forging ahead with a total raw diet in January. I plan to drink a lot of green smoothies. I do have a couple of questions. I am wondering about drinking tea. Green tea and other teas. And Kombucha tea. I suppose if I don't heat the water very high - then my tea is not really cooked. Does everyone drink tea? I love a couple of cups in the evening - and some kombucha in the afternoon. I appreciate any help. Kay Re: Newbie to raw foods - already vegan - have a couple questions

Date: February 25, 2010 04:50PM well. you have to keep in mind that raw food is not ALL ABOUT no heat. Honestly it is relative to the person doing it, but, in reality the ultimate goal should be health. If you are 100% raw, then there are no worries about drinking tea. I would not make it a habit, as the caffeine that is present, even in green tea, is hard on the system. BUT like I said, if you are raw, no worries about tea. Lots of folks worship kombucha. In my opinion, just try not to drink it daily. maybe alternate herbal tea with the green. also, try to drink kombucha that is made with green tea, and not black. Black tea is extra hard on our systems, much like coffee. Have no fear heading into raw.
People have this fearful perception of doing raw, and its much like any addiction being broken. The "addict", has immense fear of the losses, the lack of comfort foods. but within weeks you have new comfort food and you can't imagine eating all that nutrient lacking, enzyme free foods. You feel less restricted eating raw. not more so. Good luck !!! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
