Date: July 09, 2008 12:10PM When I'm feeling my Best, my Bowels are 'working'. For me,
about 1/2-hour after every meal. One is eating the wrong foods, and aging, when it takes meal after meal to push it all through. Would someone here be Brave enough to tell us how your Bowels work when you're feeling your Best?......WY P.S. A nice feature of being a Raw Foodist is Bravery. P.P.S. Liquid Green Smoothies do it for me. What does it for you? Re: Proper Bowel Movements

Date: July 09, 2008 02:34PM Just like you said Wheatgrass Yogi -- eating stimulates peristalsis
and if my diet is raw and well combined the body "says" head for the bathroom NOW no time to read a magazine :-) Re: Proper Bowel Movements

Date: July 09, 2008 02:54PM When I eat a good great huge quantity of greens and fruit. Fruit in the day, A LOT of greens in the night. mass is important I feel.
And I squat on the toilet, instead of sitting - thats PROPER elimination ! : D -------------------------------------------------- [www.azurastorch.blogspot.com] Re: Proper Bowel Movements

Date: July 09, 2008 03:45PM Any kind of juicing, especially first thing in the morning, will help stimulate the bowels. Citrus or pineapple is especially effective.

Date: July 09, 2008 06:15PM Those were some pretty good replies. I especially liked Azura Skye's
reference to the 'Squat' instead of 'Sitting'. Gotta get back to doing that for the Best Elimination.......WY [www.toilet-related-ailments.com] Re: Proper Bowel Movements

Date: July 09, 2008 08:05PM For me, if I eat all raw (whatever it is), I go 2-3 times a day, any cooked and it's maybe once a day, if I'm lucky, and it's achy all the way down. Re: Proper Bowel Movements

Date: July 09, 2008 09:09PM My diet is right on the money and I'm outta there in record time.
I take wheatgrass ememas a few times a year. Then on the other side of the spectrum are those SAD folks who take twenty minutes or more and stink up the neighborhood. YEIKS! Re: Proper Bowel Movements

Date: July 10, 2008 11:25PM I'm glad that someone brought up this topic.
I've been totally raw for about 3 months now, and I've been noticing a "tightness" in my lower right abdomen. I think this is where the colon is? I've also noticed that I seem to be transitioning from 1 BM every morning (like clockwork.....6am!) to another one later in the day as well. Has anyone else noticed odd feelings in the intestines when transitioning father into raw foodism? Also, do any of you guys "feel" things moving through their intestines? For example, almost immediately after eating, sometimes AS I am eating, I feel the food moving through my intestines in my lower abdomen. It's like it almost skips my stomach? I talked to my husband (still on a SAD diet) about this and he thought I was crazy and said he never feels things in his intestines. I could also just be hyper-sensitive to my insides - - - I am also healing from Celiac disease. Sorry about all the questions! But, this forum is the best! I've learned and am learning so much from you all! Re: Proper Bowel Movements

Date: July 20, 2008 06:35PM Near the end of my raw phase, my bowel movements were very loose- I don't think I was getting enough fibre and I think the hummus I was eating kept upsetting it. Then, I got a major belly upset from drinking bad water, and the less raw I was, the better I got... but it never went away until I went high fruit for a few days- eating masses of blueberries- and bam, problem fixed, with the most satisfactory movement in a long, long time Reiterated how important fruit is to me, and the need for balance.
