Date: September 17, 2008 11:43PM I'm new to face products. I have dry skin and have tried moisturisers and oils but I think I need to remove the dead cells on my face, just not sure how to do it.
what do you use? Re: exfoliate? how to remove dead skin cells?

Date: September 18, 2008 01:33AM baking soda is a great scrub, it's very gentle yet effective. a quick scrub with that once or twice a week is good.
you can use a washcloth when washing or rinsing your face, that's gentle as well. alpha hydroxy acids are fruit based exfoliators that sort of burn or eat off dead skin cells (that sounds much more aggressive than it is). the health food store may have a natural brand. dry skin comes from not being hydrated enough, a protective moisturizing barrier after washing your face will help to keep water in. again, try the health food store for a good lotion. burt's bees makes an excellent carrot seed oil based facial cream. carrot seed oil is excellent for skin (not sure if it's vegan, might have beeswax in it), you could look for a vial of that to use instead of anything else. have you tried the oil cleansing method of washing your face? look that up and maybe give it a try for a while and see how it goes. a mask of oatmeal, honey (if you use it), and water is soothing, so is cucumber though that is not particularly moisturizing. good luck! Date: October 01, 2008 07:59PM thanks Jgunn,
I have a skinbrush and it works great, I'd love it even more if I could use it on my face. Coco, am I supposed to wash my face and keep it wet before using the baking soda? Or just use it dry and rub thoroughly with fingertips? [www.youtube.com] Re: exfoliate? how to remove dead skin cells?

Date: October 01, 2008 11:33PM i make a thick paste of the soda and water. sometimes i mix it in with whatever i am washing my face with, when i used to use honey i'd mix it with that. i exfoliate with it only briefly as it gets irritating if it's left on too long. Date: October 03, 2008 09:31PM Washing with an ayate cloth is also very good for exfoliation. I gently rub it over my face. It feel great and it's stimulating like a gentle massage. Mostly I don't even use soap with it. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
