Date: October 21, 2007 08:04PM Hi,
Does anyone know if raw food has any affect on hormones? My Mom (55 years old soon) has really low level of hormones. She takes a supposedly good product for hormones from the health food store ( medication is out of question. She is sensitive type, any side effect would came out immediately.), but the blood test not really good. I remember reading somewhere about raw veggies helping hormone production. I appreciate any information. Thanks Lejla Re: hormones

Date: October 22, 2007 03:03AM I think a raw food diet would help. One reason is that she would be avoiding all processed foods which a lot of them include soy in the form of soybean oil and soy plays havoc with the thyroid. Search www.mercola.com for soy to see what I mean.
Also, any canned foods and plastics contain Bisphenol-a which is a synthetic estrogen. I also read that cruciferous veggies & cabbage can inhibit hormone production, so she might want to minimize the broccoli and cauliflower for awhile and concentrate on other veggies.
