"Vitamin C can kill multidrug-resistant TB in the lab, scientists have found.

The surprise discovery may point to a new way of tackling this increasingly hard-to-treat infection, the US study authors from Yeshiva University say in Nature Communications.

An estimated 650,000 people worldwide have multidrug-resistant TB.

Studies are now needed to see if a treatment that works using the same action as vitamin C would be useful as a TB drug in humans. "

Dr linus pauling, often referred to as the "Father of vitamin C" and twice awarded the Nobel Prize, declared that large intakes of up to 10 grams of Vitamin C each day aids anti-cancer activity within the body.
Pauling was largely ridiculed for making these declarations, but today, large doses of Vitamin C are used by many practitioners for cancer patients in nutritional therapies, who believe Pauling was right and that Vitamin C is indispensable to the body in its fight to regain health from cancer.

Whoa. Actually Dr. Pauling was diagnosed with both rectal & prostate cancer in December 1991. According to Oregon State University' Linus & Ava Pauling Papers 1873-2002, he subsequently underwent two surgeries for these conditions, but died of cancer at his home in Big Sur, CA August 19, 1994. Except for the surgeries, he only used his vitamin C regimen for fighting his cancers.

His wife, Ava, died of stomach cancer in the early 1980ties at age 77, and one of Linus Pauling's three sons also died of cancer, I believe it was Edward Pauling (1937-1997). I don't know what the other son died from, but his first-born, Linus, Jr, & a daughter are apparently still living.
