I just finished my first "Raw Meal"

I'm talking about the Garden of Life product. I got the vanilla. It's pretty good. You can definitely taste the stevia after-taste. I'll report back later on whether or not it kept me full, how I felt, etc. Anybody else tried this stuff? I may have asked this question before. Sorry if I did.

What are the ingredients and can you not make your own mix or just combine ingredients in a Vitamix?

That would be really hard considering all the sprouted ingredients it has.

I'm not a big fan of stevia but it's better for me than sugar. I'm looking for convenience from this product. Anything to help me increase my percentage of vegan food is always nice too. I'm not someone who can eat tons of super sweet fruit for days on end.

I had my Raw Meal at about 5 pm yesterday. At first I felt hungry but as time went on I was satisfied. I made it until bed-time with only adding a handful of nuts. When I woke up this morning I felt my normal hunger. Not famished or anything, just ready to have something. Can't say about digestion until I've had my morning glass of water and green smoothie.

19 hours since my first Raw Meal and absolutely no digestive problems as of yet.

If they had left out the flax flour and coconut flour, it might have been less heavy. I never got into brewer's yeast myself - I think there was a whole discussion on the main forum on how it contains cyanocobalamin rather than the methyl...... type of B12.

Heavy? It's 312 calories for one serving.

I guess the word 'flour' doesn't feel like raw food for me. I put a banana in my smoothies to make them more filling. I use powders, too, which I guess are the same thing as flour. Are you trying to lose or gain weight or just eating healthy?

I'm in excellent health and simply experimenting with this product. Right now I'm 6'1" and 180 lbs. with a 33 inch waist. I feel very strong and have no desire to go back to 155-160 lbs. I used to be able to eat tons of sweet fruit, but then one day I suddenly couldn't stomach it anymore. Like you I still use some in my smoothies. Eating huge plates of it is out of the question. I have around 6 pieces of fruit a day that aren't berries and it's all combined with greens. Not being a big sweet fruit eater leads me to search for less sugary ways to up my raw intake. Raw Meal does help. I'm at 70-80% raw right now which is a good place for me. Also, my significant other works long hours away from home. I try to help her find convenience and health. I'm sort of like her royal taster when it comes to these things. I'll try it for a few days. If it seems okay I'll recommend it to her. So far she likes Raw Meal more than I do. She drinks it in the morning and gets super-energized.

I keep this at my mom's house and mix it with coconut water for a quick breakfast. I've only had it a few times in the cacao flavor - the one scoop "snack" serving actually keeps me full for a good 4 hours.

KidRaw, its nutritional yeast that is fortified with cyanocobalamin. Brewer's yeast is not fortified.

Oh, that's weird. Because I know a lot of raw foodists eat nutritional yeast to get their Vitamin B-12 and use it in recipes for a cheesy flavor and there are lots of raw packaged products and flavorings that contain it. Do you use brewer's yeast as a supplement or for recipes or is there a problem with that, also? Is it cooked or something?

In addition to being used for beer, deactivated brewer's yeast is also used as a nutritional and flavor supplement, and is often found labeled as “nutritional yeast” in grocery stores. It is important to make sure that you purchase an inactive form of yeast for a nutritional supplement, because active yeast will flourish in your intestines, potentially causing health problems.

The way you can tell the difference between nutritional yeast and brewers yeast, is that the latter tastes horrible lol.

Both are good superfoods though and extremely rich sources of B-complex vitamins. Most tolerate yeast fine although there are a small number of individuals who are allergic to yeast and should thus avoid.

Both don't naturally contain Vitamin B12 however unless they have been fortified. Also most brands of nutritional yeast are not fortified with Vitamin B12, so thats something to watch out for.

Red Star is one of the main fortified B12 brands of nutritional yeast.
