Can I take selenium if I have mercury fillings?

Date: February 17, 2011 08:04PM I have mercury fillings that I'd like to remove but for the time being can I take a selenium supplement in case there is any toxicity in my body? Or will this effect the fillings I already have? Re: Can I take selenium if I have mercury fillings?

Your Mercury fillings shouldn't be toxic unless they're very old. When you do have them removed, let a Holistic (or Natural) Dentist do it. Date: February 19, 2011 01:21AM A dentist removed all of the metal fillings in my lower mouth without letting on that was what he was doing, he just kinda went in and said well this and this and this need to be replace/repaired etc. It was bad timing for me, I was in agony needing a root canal but was nursing my son at the time so wanted very little work done and there he was taking out all the metal and replacing it with composite resin (plastic) that is just as bad for your health. And don't last very long. Sigh.
If I could afford ceramic fillings I'd find a place to do them but I don't think that will ever be possible. Wish my teeth were just stronger, that would be so nice. Re: Can I take selenium if I have mercury fillings?

A deficiency of selenium can cripple your body's ability to process out mercury and other toxins, so supplementing with it can be good. Have your selenium levels been reviewed through bloodwork? This would be prudent. Good luck  Re: Can I take selenium if I have mercury fillings?

We take great care of our teeth but they are naturally soft, inherited family trait. Sensitive gums too. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
