Can I take selenium if I have mercury fillings?

I have mercury fillings that I'd like to remove but for the time being can I take a selenium supplement in case there is any toxicity in my body? Or will this effect the fillings I already have?

Your Mercury fillings shouldn't be toxic unless they're
very old. When you do have them removed, let a Holistic (or
Natural) Dentist do it. It'll cost much more, but it'll be worth it
because of the Safety Precautions that are taken.....WY

A dentist removed all of the metal fillings in my lower mouth without letting on that was what he was doing, he just kinda went in and said well this and this and this need to be replace/repaired etc. It was bad timing for me, I was in agony needing a root canal but was nursing my son at the time so wanted very little work done and there he was taking out all the metal and replacing it with composite resin (plastic) that is just as bad for your health. And don't last very long. Sigh.

If I could afford ceramic fillings I'd find a place to do them but I don't think that will ever be possible. Wish my teeth were just stronger, that would be so nice.

fruitylou,

A deficiency of selenium can cripple your body's ability to process out mercury and other toxins, so supplementing with it can be good. Have your selenium levels been reviewed through bloodwork? This would be prudent. Good luck smiling smiley

Just take care of the teeth you have now, and don't
beat yourself up about the past.
I wasn't aware of Ceramic Fillings. Are they Metal-free?.....WY

Yes, they are supposed to be the best thing.
We take great care of our teeth but they are naturally soft, inherited family trait. Sensitive gums too.
