Acidic Saliva?
Posted by: VirtualVegGrrl ()

As long as I'm here, I thought I might ask...

I've been high raw for nearly a month now, and I'm noticing something weird going on with my mouth. I seem to have a lot of saliva, but it tastes kind of VINEGAR-y. Has anyone else exerienced anything like this?

Thanks!

Eh, possibly ketosis?

Are you losing weight? If you are, it's probably ketosis-breath. People are familiar with it due to the popularity of the Adkins diet, but it can happen when you're eating way fewer calories in general. I don't know about the volume of it, so I'm gonna pass.

Hmm...I tried a veggie version of Atkins a few years back, but I don't remember having that. Bad breath maybe, but not the saliva. My mouth seems to almost water, especially after eating salads or veggies.

Usually I have acidic saliva only when i eat sugary foods such as cookies or icecream. If it bothers you maybe you can do a mouth wash with some baking soda and water. Its a good, mild, natural antibacterial mouthwash to use. I am not sure how much baking soda you need to use per glass of water, sorry; but if you use google i am sure you'll find the answer easily as it is a common old school mouthwash.
