"Mountain Dew spokesperson Elisa Baker said the company did extensive research into the matter. "Our consumers told us they were looking for an alternative to traditional morning beverages," she said.

"Kickstart combines the best of all worlds -- it tastes great, has just the right amount of real fruit juice and gives them a kick to help them start their day," Baker said.

The amount of fruit juice Kickstart actually has is 5%, Baker said. As for caffeine, it has 92 milligrams in a 16-ounce can. That compares with 72 milligrams in a regular can of Mountain Dew. Pepsico's energy drink, Amp, has almost double that -- 142 milligrams of caffeine."

I don't understand why they don't just sell syringes filled with caffeine and saline in the beverage aisle at the supermarket. It would be more honest. At least 5 Hour Energy has B vitamins in it[sigh]

I drank that astronaut pi$$ too! Every morning with a bowl of sugary cereal swimming in pasteurized milk. I hated it. At a certain point, 5th grade I think, I just stopped eating breakfast. I couldn't handle starting off every day with poison anymore.

I prefer our monster morning drink of green smoothie. Perks us up just fine without the crash later on. This stuff is just silly. Really people, don't whine when your health falls down the mountainside if this is what you choose for breakfast. Ugh tongue sticking out smiley.
