Good post. All seafood is contaminated with toxic metals such as mercury to some degree, including sea vegetables. This makes choosing certain seafoods very important if you wish to include them in the diet.

Tuna should be avoided, as should factory farmed salmon in my opinion, which have consistently showed to be worst accumulators for mercury and other toxins. Infact most fish should probably be avoided.

However not all seafood is bad and can be a great source of many hard to get nutrients. Sardines are lower in the food chain and don't tend to accumulate much if any mercury. Another reason for this is that they feed solely on plankton. Sardines are also rich in many nutrients such as vitamin B12, vitamin D, omega-3s(EPA/DHA), bio-available forms of selenium and calcium, rich in DNA/RNA and much more. Many of these nutrients deficient or low on a vegan diet. - The Health Benefits Of Sardines

Out of all of the sea veggies, kelp is the best choice. The reason for this is that kelp contains a type of fiber called alginates which bind to any toxic metals present and aid detoxification.
