I did get INTENSE cheese cravings in the beginning of raw, when I was cold turkey vegan with no such symptoms. It had to be detox, though.

Some days I wonder why I stopped. I loved rolling down hills as a child, too!

Now, I dry brush. http://www.naturalhealthtechniques.com/HealingTechniques/Dry_Brushing_Technique.htm It's great for the lymph, and all you need is a brush. It did make my skin softer and has helped a bit with cellulite (I've been at it for many weeks now).

What do kids say when you ask them why they twirl...?

If you honestly aren't craving greens, if you feel sick when you are about to eat them--don't eat them! I had almost four months of ZERO desire for greens, ate mostly fruit and some sprouts (a WIDE variety of both).

But when the time was ripe, my body just let me know, "Hey, have a salad." I hungered for it, and it was amazing! It still feels amazing, so I will continue to eat greens, as long as they satisfy and fulfill me. =) If they start making me feel nauseous again, I'll back off.

I was INCREDIBLY paranoid as the months ticked by and salads made me want to puke. But the fact that suddenly, again, I'm delighting in them, it gave a huge boost of faith to the "your body will tell you what it wants when it wants" idea. Even if it took several months before it wanted the greens again.

My energy levels and everything else were also fine--I wasn't displaying signs of other or serious problems, probably a little note to keep in mind (if you start feeling other than well).

hi Brian,
just wanted you to know that I am not struggling with any religious issues. I do notice that there are people here that seem guite spiritual. though this can be contstrued in different ways. As in the AA program and the Al-Anon programs, the concept is actually only that you believe in a higher power, whatever that may be to the individual.
These programs actually embrace all religions even the so called non-religions by most people's standards. I believe in a power higher than myself, but just not the same as others. My own beliefs have gotten me through a lot of rough times in my life. I am a raw foods eater for different reasons. First being a vegetarian, then a vegan, and thanks to you, now raw. It has helped me tremendously health wise. But also goes with my own beliefs of the sacredness of the Mother Earth. I don't know if there is anyone here who believes in the earth religions. But there is never any judgement on my part in anyones path.

Pizza salad is just spinach leaves with a cucumber round and roma tomato slice on top. You eat it like a pizza slice. After dinner we went for a walk in the forest and picked blackberries. There are already so many but in two weeks we will have more than we can pick. We are having a blackberry pickin' party then. I wish you guys could come.

Hope your Mother's day was as wonderful as mine.

Hi everyone!

EZ rider Wrote:
-------------------------------------------------------

>
> fast transition is extreme!
>
> There were a couple of reasons why I went ALL RAW
> - ALL AT ONCE.
>
> First, when I "discovered raw I really got excited
> because it resonated with me in a way that I knew
> was right and I couldn't wait to get started. I
> started making lifestyle changes immediately - I
> got moving and started eating raw foods with my
> very next meal.

Wow EZ Rider! that's commendable! *applaud!* However, such a fast transition, wouldn't work with me! We all have different circumstances, and right now, all I can do is limit my animal foods intake. Things just aren't suitable at the moment. I'd love to have switched immediately, but the lack of resources, and TIME prevent me.

> Second, straddling the fence with one foot in
> cooked and the other in raw was not the stand I
> felt right with. I put my shoulder to the wheel
> (so to speak) and pushed to make the changes
> happen. Looking back I think its that kind of a
> "commitment move" that made my switch (no
> transition) to all raw work. I think sometimes
> when you know its the right thing to do you just
> do it.

I totally understand what you mean by "left foot in, right foot out..." But gradually doing it is better in my case. I'll take it at my own pace and raise the boundary as I get stronger.

You're welcome Keepitsimple3344! :)

The lifespan of the carafe can be significantly extended by applying downwards pressure with one's hand to the lid of the carafe while the blender is running..

Lollipop, as you have observed, the carafe moves counterclockwise until the square base of the carafe comes into contact with the 4 rubber projections that are a part of the blender's base..After the carafe's base encounters these projections & ceases moving counterclockwise, it then tends to vibrate; ie. to jiggle up & down..The severity of this upwards & downwards movement depends upon the weight of the ingredients in the carafe, & the speed of the blender..As the carafe moves up & down it is not making full contact between the teeth on the bottom of the carafe & the matching teeth in the blender's base..This intermittent contact between the opposing sets of teeth is what tends to wear out the carafe prematurely..It does so by damaging the teeth & wearing out the bearings in the carafe that the blades spin on..

Some estimates are that the carafe's lifespan may be reduced by as much as 50%, compared to applying the pressure to prevent excess movement..

I cannot remember where I read this info..It was recently, within the past 3 months or so..

Most commercial blenders have this weakness to one degree or another, as they are designed for the bases to be easy to clean..

Most home blenders have carafe bases that are designed for a much larger area of contact between the carafe's bottom & the blender's base..Generally speaking, the carafe on a home blender fits very snugly into a matching recess in the base of the blender..Combined with the much heavier weight of a glass carafe, this makes for very little movement; even on high power settings..

The recess on the base of the home blender makes them a pain-in-the-butt to clean compared to a commercial blender..

At 01:54PM we got: "Thank You all for your thoughts I appraciate all of them." Then at 4:15 we got something completely different. Can we have the person who posted at 1:54 back again?

"No good deed goes unpunished."

I'm not responsible for your feelings.

I generally don't pay much attention to WHO posts, but rather to WHAT is posted.

Try and calm down and see the good in every one. It makes life easier.

You cannot control the evolution of a thread. (Use private email if you have control issues about what is posted!) I've had people whose opinions or style is contrary to my own or to my taste. But, this is a public forum. Try and assume that most people mean well and those who seemingly -- to you -- don't mean well, just might also mean well.

I have found that trying to see the good in everyone helps me tremendously. I'm not always successful, but I'm much happier this way.

Just because YOU can't see the goodness in someone doesn't mean there isn't any... Look again... or look in the mirror. :)

Wishing you well, regardless of your wishes --

[Living and Raw Foods Discussion (Vegan)] Help..pollen allegy or cold?

Recently I have been having cold-like symptom and I also started modified Lemonade Diet (taking Lemonade and juice, broth but no solid food) at the same time.
My symptom didn't get better and I still have the same symptom...a lot of mucus comes out constantly. After about 8 days into it, I had to stop since I was having mothers day lunch and at least I wanted to eat raw food. By the way, I never had pollen allegy before but a lot of people suspects it.
Anyways, I had some raw brownie yesteday and I felt really sick...almost like I had a flu. I am just wondering if I am doing something wrong.

I just wanted to clean up my system before I go back to Japan at the end of this month for about 2 months where it is very hard to continue staying raw. I can stay Vegan and try my best to keep food combining well but I am pretty sure it's hard.

I am just wondering what I do next...should I start full Master Cleanser to get rid of the toxin? Thank you for your help in advance.
