I had a BlendTec HP3. It did not have as much power as the Waring commercial XTreme (rated at 3.5 peak hp). However, neither of those would grind berry seeds. The VitaMix 6300 that I recently purchased from Costco does grind berry seeds. And, at the slow end, it is the only one that is able to make salsa somewhat chunky rather than a puree.

I have had a BlendTec and a Waring commercial X-Treme MX1050XT. Now I have a VitaMix 6300 and find it much more versatile than either of the other blenders. My salsa comes out chunky on the low speed and the seeds of the berries actually are ground on the high speed attained by the VitaMix.

My apologies, gogoberry. The intention of my previous post was to point out that this is the appropriate forum for talking about your dog and raw food, even if it isn't vegan food.

Used less than 300 cycles. The carafe has visible water deposits from allowing it to air dry after rinsing. Inquire via private message.

For my blending, I always cut up my fruit/vegetables the evening before, stuff them into the carafe and put it in the refrigerator for blending in the morning. There is some oxidation, but I'd guess that depending on how they are cut up, less than 10% of the total will be affected.

I should have patented my blendtec tamper. I had a barbeque mop that I was given when I ordered a bunch of such items. Going raw, I had no use for it, so I removed the mop part, drilled a hole in it and glued in a small dowel to prevent it from contacting the blades and used it until I pushed too hard one time and caused the rubber lid to compress enough for it to hit the blades.

When my dog has her blood work checked for Valley Fever, we also have the rabies titer checked and, if ok, she gets no vaccine. She has not needed a vaccine since the first as a puppy.

Actually, rawnewbie is correct. It is much more likely, however, that the blender's overtemp shut-off will prevent the blender from catching fire. Using it on a circuit with only a 15A breaker may require resetting the breaker if the blender is used under a heavy load. If that happens, I would like to know what you are blending. Regards,

I don't know about the olive bar, but here in Tucson, the "decorative" olive trees that are loaded with olives have never been sprayed. I get some truly sun-dried olives that have no salt right off the tree.

I recommend you offer your labor picking the apples in exchange for a bushel or two. Chances are they will let you keep all you pick. I do this with olives in my neighborhood.

F1, Over the past 18 months, I have read every post in this forum. Some of yours gave me the impression that you were arrogant and insensitive. I must say though, that in reflecting on what you have said over the last couple of months, I have gained a deeper appreciation of where you are coming from and your words have helped me achieve a clearer view of myself. I did not harvest anything this weekend. Instead, I signed up for a class this coming Thursday on harvesting and preparing prickly pear fruit, nopalitos, cholla buds, agave and mesquite. I discovered glochids when I tried out cholla buds. You all would have had a good laugh at seeing me holding my tongue with one hand in front of my wife's magnified makeup mirror with a pair of tweezers and a

I have a grapefruit tree that I tried to get rid of in my pre-raw days. One spring day I cut off all the branches, leaving only the thick center trunk. Since all the bark fell off of it, I knew it was dead. (I was taught that the way to kill a tree is to cut and peel off a strip of bark all the way around it.) After it dried out, I was planning to uproot it and chop it up to use in my smoker. Lo

I've been adding nopales to my salsas this summer, so I can't say how it tastes alone. I cut them from "wild" prickly pear and have found that as I clip off the large spines and glochids (hair-like spines) there is lots of slimy, mucoid substance released from the cuts. After spine removal, I rinse the pad then slice it to fit in the blender. This releases more slime. This weekend,
