activeinternet: thanks for posting this. abstaining from fruit while healing is a pretty widespread admonition. it's certainly not unique to either Clements or Cousens, and personally, if I were diagnosed with a cancer, I would likely follow this advice and eliminate sweet fruit from my diet. but cancer (and other illnesses) constitute a health crisis obviously and what one does under those c

phantom asked: "Also, dumb question, but that 3% hydrogen peroxide everyone talks about--can I get it at a grocery store or drug store?" food-grade hydrogen peroxide can be purchased at any health food store...even the not so good ones. i would not recommend purchasing your H2O2 at the grocery or drug store if you intend to ingest it. also, just to be clear, I am not recommend

Robert O. Youngs book, "The pH Miracle" started me out on raw foods (he recommends 80% raw food in the overall diet), and his healing protocol includes "pH drops" or H2O2 diluted in water. He suggests this (strongly I might add) with no more fanfare than one would expect from any recommendation of supplementation: in other words, like its no big deal. He says, "Here's

why DO some plant personal photos in every single post? what IS the point to that? and if you don't welcome mild flirtations or comments regarding your appearance, then the solution seems simple enough...even a rationalist can figure that one out. Raw food tends to make people glowy and beautiful and not a few people gravitate toward raw with that personal goal in mind, and so it may be enc

There are a handful of "notable" vegan martial artists - I googled this one day while discussing the raw, vegan diet with an MA enthusiast who doesn't think that vegans can handle impact sports. Interesting that the comments made by these vegan "fighters" include faster healing and recovery time - though not surprising. Sorry that I can't remember any names...just google

This seems good advice to me David. I need to start hangin around you more. You really tend to help me "lighten up". When I first started frequenting this site I found you sort of bland; giving the same advice day in day out - very moderate, without striving, with self-acceptance and patience - and I was looking for a revolution. In the last 6 months or so, its been gradually dawning

I use the castor oil/ olive oil mixture to cleanse my face every morning and I'm impressed with the results that I'm getting. My skin glows! Plus, the castor oil is reputed to help with blemish and age spots...although the process is slow. This is a very inexpensive way to take excellent care of the skin. a quarter cup of the mixture lasts up to two weeks!...a little goes a long way. ...an

watercress smoothies are one of my favorites. you can't use too much of the watercress though, or yes, it will be too peppery and rich on the system. a small handful will do. because I don't yet have a high-powered blender I'm limited to what greens will blend smoothly and so watercress, spinach and baby greens are my staples. Try the watercress blended with papaya and a banana...this works ve

Kewl thread! In folk lore and in the oral tradition (teaching passed on by the art of "telling" the Tree is a Gate to the other worlds ( Outerworld, Innerworld, Underworld). Many stories of initiations begin with the initiate sitting under a tree, the buddha of course being one of the best known, but there are many others. Even Jesus could be considered to have undergone initiation un

I've toyed with the idea of volunteering next year for kitchen duty. There is something insane about feeding that many people good quality food...not an easy gig. It may actually work better, and be more lucrative for the festival as a whole, if independent vendors sold food rather than the food being provided. In that way raw food restaurants could show their stuff and the attendees would hav

I eat a mix of conventional/organic too. Frankly, there is an almost neurotic/phobic avoidance of certain conventionally grown produce operating in me - don't know how that set in. But tender greens or lettuces, celery, and apples that are conventionally grown give me the willies and I go out of my way to get these organic. Some organic produce actually tastes better to me: cucumbers, zucch

hi bracken It's my understanding that almonds are quite alkalinizing - especially if soaked before eating. Most raw fruits and veggies are alkaline. Those which are considered more acid, such as citrus, tend to be alkaline in their effects on the body. Acid-forming foods include grains (millet, amaranth, and quinoa less so) and legumes (unless sprouted), sugar and sugar products, wheat and

I was a professional chef for many years. As you eat more and more raw food you'll likely develop a new and improved "sensitivity" to food which will enable you to literally smell whether or not a cooked food needs more salt, or basil or liquid or whatever - as well as an improved ability to visually assess whether or not something tastes good. I still cook for family occasionally
