I am disgusted and appalled! Ha! ha! just kidding. Trust me, I know what its like. You have no one to deal with but yourself. Some folks may have to undergo MANY periods of alternating between healthy and unhealthy in order to find what works for THEM. The goal should always be to find SOME/ANY raw habit that can stick and is appealing - whether it's juice, fruit, salads or whatever. Find wha

Ha! ha! Funny. Well, they certainly are not within the realm of the raw vegan ideal. On the other hand.....in general.....I would recommend the sawdust and rubber band diet if I thought it would steer people away from meat & dairy and closer to fresh fruits & vegetables. If Boca burgers are some one's attempt to reduce meat and animal products.....I would support that. -David Z. Mason

If you have not done a longer fast, I would break the fast if you are experiencing cramps. Even if you have done a longer fast before, you should probably break any fast in which you are experiencing acute conditions (pain, bleeding, cramping, etc.). If you are energetic, light walking while fasting is fine - and even peaceful. -David Z. Mason

Protein is always one of the biggest concerns - that is actually almost nothing to worry about. For adults, they should be able to get plenty of protein on a varied raw diet. There is plenty of usable protein in fruits & veggies. If you are concerned, eat sprouted sunflower seeds. -David Z. Mason

Most Americans drink relatively pure water - even right out of the tap. I think that if you are concerned: Buy the purified water of your choice - and leave it 3/4 full in a glass bottle in the sun for 8 hours. Shake to oxygenate & drink. It should be very clean and oxygenated at that point.....and about as alive as you are going to get it...heh...heh. -David Z. Mason

Well: #1 - I can sympathize. #2 - I'm sure it probably has high carbon-dioxide & carbonic acids....but in the scheme of things....I think its a fine transition food. If you want to wean off it? Go ahead. Drink more fresh juice - of whatever kind you prefer and is easiest for you to make. -David Z. Mason

I believe Prana is correct. The only LONG term road to health is to be able to know enough about yourself to AVOID the foods that harm you. I believe that the skin is one of your first and foremost means of elimination - especially of excess salts and oils (and bacteria love to feed on this stuff). My personal take is that you should always eliminate the foods, medications, grooming products or e

I thinks it is perfectly fine for governments & the UN to develop dietary guidelines. In any event, each individual is his/her own mystery to solve - and must determine the eating regime which is healthful and beneficial for THEM. -David Z. Mason

I also made my changes originally for health reasons. I was only later that I realized that eating meat, for me, was incompatible with a spiritual lifestyle. How could I kill animals unnecessarily and say that I loved all god's creation? You know? I realized eventually that true spirituality, for me, is about showing love in the SMALLEST circumstances.....where it may not even be warranted or

I agree with Prana....and would also add that sprouts should also be an excellent source of live proteins. -David Z. Mason

I've never had any problem eating a LIMITED amount of the skins if the figs are ripe. Too many will probably irritate your mouth/lips/gums - as will eating unripe ones. Just my experience. -David Z. Mason

My own experience is that for those that have no particular health or nutrient absorption issues - then they will do fine on a diet without meat. For those on an all raw diet, you should have no problem with protein or nutrients. That said, the emotional side and a desire for 'comfort' foods is what usually gets folks.....not a protein deficiency! heh..heh. At first, I would allow yoursel

I'm not into panicky thinking. Things that I think are a concern....I make sure to incorporate. So: I think that those who are worried about b-12 should eat fresh produce from a wide variety of soils....or supplement. -David Z. Mason

My own experience in transitioning lies on finding transition food or raw foods that are appealing to ME. The most important thing an aspiring 100% raw food person can do is to find an all-raw breakfast that works and is satisfying....then find an all raw lunch.....then find all raw snacks......and then find an all-raw dinner that works for YOU. Instead of trying to change your habits by chan

I think if you are really worried about it....and are industrious....you should grow your own greens/veggies...and just not completely wipe all the dirt off. I imagine very few cows have problems with B-12 deficiency. Otherwise supplement. -David Z. Mason

I agree with Prana. I would simply be aware/cautious of eating huge amount of fats......and allow yourself some transitional meals. In order to retain/increase weight.....I would eat larger meals...and fewer. 2 large meals a day (one in the morning and one in the evening)....along with the regular weight lifting your describe should be fine. -David Z. I go out often, but I don't depend on restaurants or other people to feed me. I eat ahead of time - and simply say I'm not hungry - but can I still stay? I have yet to be kicked out. -David Z. Mason

My experiences closely parallel Prana. I think that when you are eating fresh produce, you are eating the highest quality foods you can. I think the science of fresh fruits and vegetables having a positive effect on insulin levels and effectiveness is fairly well established and accepted. In my experience, it is important for a person to find a way of eating that is PROGRESSING healthier

I haven't been in a lot of long-term relationships - but I am sure that men and women are a little different in their approach. If it was me? I do make sure that I am happy - and then I support others as best I can. I personally draw the line at PURCHASING animal products....whenever possible. Beyond that, I have no problem cooking or preparing food for a loved-one....although in most cases I don

The answer to your question is yes. My suggestion is to go to the PTA meetings of the area you are are interested in making a difference in. If you go armed with research, and enough of the parents agree, you should have no problems implementing changes. Beyond that? No one is FORCING children to eat the food at schools. This is a decision that the parents make. As to the food at jails? You c

Some find fasting aids them in healing (those that have no other outstanding health conditions that would preclude fasting). For those that cannot fast, a diet of fresh orange juice only should greatly assist in healing - along with reasonable walking, rest, fresh air and sunlight daily until healed. Just my experience. -David Z. Mason

The foods you describe sound like an excellent sources of protein. A variety of fresh greens, fruits & vegetables should easily ensure his protein needs. I would imagine you would know if he is not getting enough if he shows symptoms of protein deficiency - which you see very rarely in non-impoverished & non-eating disorder folks. -David Z. Mason

We cannot always control what 'happens' to us. We can only control what we DO. Heh...heh. SHE can see her doctor - or other specialists if she feels she has actual physical problems. Anyway, if she is happy with her life.....you should support her. If she is not happy, you should support her in any way to you can to support the solutions she has identified. -David Z. Mason

My opinion is that glowing health and peace - and intelligent support of others - is the best persuader and motivation. You can change your OWN diet/exercise/habits. You can OFFER wonderful juices in the morning.......delicious sliced apples in the afternoon....and salads so large and colorful that they dazzle the eyes in the evening. And she can turn down ANY of it....and you will support her an
