I'd think that the input of folks who aren't accentuated, and who aren't influenced by female hormones, might be useful. But I guess not, lol. I have to confess that I was a bit weirded out by the way this question was framed -

I'm looking for any of the thyroid threads that I've seen recently, but can't find now. Trying to help a friend, any links to thyroid discussions would be deeply appreciated.

Lots of good advice. IMO part of a journey like this is how you frame yourself: Are you a raw eater who occasionally slips and eats SAD, or are you a SAD eater who occasionally manages to eat raw?

I used to have that, and it was structural. It wasn't anything specifically wrong with my spine, but it was mild muscle strain caused by my body weight ever so slightly pulling on my spine after long periods in bed. When sleeping on my back, the strain focused on my lower back, and when sleeping on my side, my body weight torqued my spine so my mid back (at and just above my waist) was most af

Yeah. My parents grew up with the mantra, "And so many common infections that used to be fatal are now easily cured with antibiotics!" My kids (if I have any) will grow up with the mantra, "And so many common infections that used bo be easily cured with antibiotics are now fatal."

Hi DavidZ: Yes, I agree - and that's I think where the eternal conflict lies: how does one judge whether the drive they are feeling is passion, or addiction, or escapism, or some form of externalisation? I think that the drive of true passion will include a drive to, if not keep our promises and commitments, at the very least bow out of them responsibly and with love before moving on. That'

I think passion is a double-edged sword. A lot of selfish, hurtful actions have been taken out of passion, or out of a belief that passion is a necessity for awakened or creative people and all else is expendable. Personally, I think the most important thing in life, or maybe I should say the FIRST thing, is keeping one's promises; being responsible and living life with integrity. Sure, a lot

Personally, I'd never use baking POWDER on my teeth (it has added acid); I use baking SODA, which is very alkaline. Lanie, do you have any info on Tom's of Maine? Funky Rob, I love your idea.

I use the following elements: 1. Don't get triggered. Some people love to argue, or have a vested interest in invalidating behaviours that they either don't like, or feel threatened by. Or, sometimes people are curious but express it poorly. I find not taking apparently aggressive interactions as an attack on me personally is half the battle. 2. Be compassionate. Some people go on the attac

I have two opinions on this issue (not just breatharianism, but raw foodism et cetera): A) I think any food practice (actually any practice period) is 'extreme' if you keep following it when it isn't working for you; and I have no patience for the 'food as spiritual practice' schools of thought. Personally, if I'm looking for something to believe in, the last place I look is inside the ref

I take wheatgrass orally five times a week (some folks use it as an enema or rectal insert). I personally wouldn't bother taking it dried or frozen, unless I were somewhere completely out-of-the-way (like Antarctica or something) where it was impossible to get fresh. The reason is that I think there's such a dropoff in nutrients etc, that a green smoothie or similar taken straight away would be a

I've been using one at work, and it's absolutely great!! The only minus I've seen is it tends to leak a bit, but it's not drastic, and it's easy to clean up.

I'm surprised no-one has suggested probiotics. It's possible that your gut flora needs a bit of help getting adjusted to the different foods it's being required to process. Good luck!

It doesn't feel like intolerance, it feels like an adjustment. I feel it every time, but like I said it isn't unpleasant. It's not a chill, or a feeling like I drank something cold; it's just a feeling of coolness all over my whole body.

I've started a wheatgrass regime, oral, and am noticing an interesting side-effect: about five minutes after consumption, I feel like my body temperature drops really quickly. It's not unpleasant, but it's very noticeable, as if I were plunged into cool water. I don't know how long the effect lasts, because I do a 20 minute brisk walk to go home from the place where I buy it, so I warm up pretty

sunshine79, with all due respect, I strenuously disagree with your suggestions regarding the symptoms you describe. There are LOTS of serious disorders, syndromes and medical crises - including serious cardiac issues - that can result in the symptoms you describe, and for many of those issues, taking salt or bicarbonate of soda could make the problem much worse. Bicarb particularly can induce car

I got boils ironically when I was using a really natural olive oil soap. I think it might have been the PH (too high). I find that swabbing susceptible areas with diluted vinegar or H2O2 helps.

I'd be interested to know the quantity of fatty foods, because (especially with 6 hours of exercise a week) it doesn't sound like a lot of food to me. Not so much extra that s/he should be gaining 10lbs in 2.5 months. I couldn't do that even if I ate an extra bag of potato chips every single day.

I'm really sorry this is happening to you. I understand how much of a temptation it is to fast when your skin improves, but sweetie, you need to eat!! I suggest a two-pronged approach: 1) Get yourself on a healthy eating regime to put nutritious food into your body, and 2) tackle your skin problems from several fronts, including professional advice - don't just keep relying on fasting.
