Rawnoggin, My wife eats them about 3 times a week but cooked and the leaves from the plant also. They grow in Florida all over the place but they are the orange ones they are like a weed when I was growing up there. I have never tried them but they are called bitter gourd or balsam pear. you must have got a really ripe one. I prefer chayotes over them they are more juicy. Cherimoya Love

The only place I saw whole frozen durians is at an oriental market on 441 between Commercial blvd and Oakland around the 4400 block. Also I have seen them at the Raw food market in Coconut Grove every Saturday from Glasier Farms. I am here in Thailand and when I go back to Florida I never buy frozen only fresh so I just eat it when it is in season here, Frozen is not the real mccoy . Cherim

If you do buy them like Bryan said get the sweet ones. where I live most of the year in Thailand there are alot of sour n sweet mixed but once in a while you can find sweet. The tree in the front of the house is full of them but they are the not so sweet my wife uses them in place of lime they are so sour. The neighbors come over and grab a few for certain Thai dishes. I will eat until I am full most of the time twice a day and once in a while another meal if I am really hungry. I try to eat when iam hungry it seems to work for me better then eating because it is 6 oclock and that means dinner. I eat big when I am hungry until full. Two times a day big meals of fruits and non sweet fruits. Cherimoya Love Peace and Happiness,

As for jackfruit it is one of my favorites the other day I had one that was orange inside a freind of mine said it is called chempadex I dont know if the spelling is correct but it was real good. If you eat some jackfruit it gives you a great big burst of energy s

High greens and fat and No fruit for me equals no energy, I tried it many years ago after 2 days,I was very hungry to eat only greens and fat without fruit to me sounds almost impossible without graving carbohydrates. Fresh ripe fruit is my best fuel I will take it anytime over greens or fat. Cherimoya Love Peace and Happiness,

Put me on the yes list for bananas but like Bryan said there are many fruits that are sweet that can take its place . This time of year where I am I have to wait for the bananas to ripen so i may not eat them but once a week or every other week so I will eat other sweet fruits like papayas and sapodillas and if I am lucky lucama. Redstar, One of the big mistakes when trying to eat more fruit is eating to much unripe fruit always wait till it is ripe. Bananas are a good example wait until they have does brown freckles on them . And dont forget to have a good supply of fruit ripening for the following days. Cherimoya Love Peace and Happiness,
