Arugula should stay! I don't know why people are getting so defensive. Everything is fine.

I was saying, you look at the whole food (not the juice) and subtract calories from fiber typically found in that food. To make something up--food X is 100 calories with 5 g fiber, juiced food X=100-(5*2)=90 calories. Except I think it's 2.5 cal/g not 2 for fiber--I forget.

Nuts etc are while foods, oils are not and lack vitamins, minerals and other nutrients of the whole food. How your our body be evolved to regulate something that doesn't exist in nature?

5-a-day is a joke. I get 5 with my first meal: 2-3 servings of greens with 2-3 servings of fruit, either whole (salad+fruit) or in smoothie form. At least! I'm sure the same is true for everyone here.

In the north, you have to supplement or hope your stores have enough, because the wavelength that produces vit D doesn't reach me until mid-March (am at 42 degrees latitude). I take a supplement because deficiency leads to things like cancer, nothing readily apparent.

Same as the whole food minus the fiber calories. Fiber calories are about two per gram, I believe... if you do a search I know arugula once said how many. So 1 pound chard plus one apple, juiced =-

I wouldn't eat them raw. Raw potatoes tend to make people not feel so well. Though cooked, I'd rather eat a purple than white one (phytonutrients!).

I love beans, always have, they leave me feeling really good and satisfied. I never had trouble digesting them until I started eating them sprouted and raw. I keep trying them over and over, I have for the past few years, but I can't eat them raw on a regular basis. So I eat them in soup, no vitamin leaching. Many long-lived peoples have eaten beans and there are various benefits--so if you like

Yeah, I think my crown chakra is okay, that was paranoia from the stimulant. It is yummy though--maybe next time it would be a good alternative if other people are drinking. Or earlier in the day. In moderation I had kinda thought people were just hypochondriacs before! Now I am again reminded why you can never judge someone else...

So, I had heard about the stimulant effects of cacao from theobromine. I was never much concerned since I didn't find it addictive or stimulating, personally. Then again, I never really felt much effect from minor drugs like aspirin, caffeine, ibuprofen, and just avoided them since it seemed like a good idea (plus, I never got any effect from them!). I always figured it was because I am so cerebr

coco is right on. salt is a refined version of sodium found in foods. like sugar is a refined version of fruit sugar.

One difference is that baby humans need more iron than baby cows. Baby humans get iron deficiency that stunts their growth (and they never completely will catch up), even if given raw cow's milk instead of mom's milk. That's why formula changes a bunch of things from the base. ---I believe the same is true for goat's milk. Different species, different needs.

It's not a big deal...maybe you need to slow down with the changes you've made. Of course you can still progress...but if it gets turned into an all or nothing deal, then it will ultimately be more stress--which is less healthy! As people talk about in the orthorexia thread.

I used to work for WIC. They can't change the vouchers for produce, it's a federal deicision, out of their hands. The farmer's market vouchers are once a summer and there WILL be more produce offered, but not for a year--it's a change that takes awhile to set in. The only thing raw is carrots for breastfeeding women. Otherwise, it's not worth your time. The program is what it is. If you argue

Search HIIT--interval training. It's pretty consistently and clearly the best for fat-burning. Fast, then slow, then fast, etc. Slower burns a higher percentage of fat, but less calories and so less fat overall. Faster burns more calories overall if you exercise for the same amount of time. The same distance will burn the same number of calories either way (by definition of work and energy

Great to know for budget reasons... but the #1 reason to buy organic is planet health. I'd like to see a ranking of those that tend to use more or less chemical inputs--I know for example, that potatoes (not raw, I just know this) are one where they really use tons of chemicals, and avoided conventional ones for that reason--environmental. It all ends up in the water we drink, so it's still healt

I think it's slimy. It makes green smoothies nice and frothy. I imagine you could make a dip with it as well.

Crying menas you are experiencing the emotions and letting them flow through you...beautiful. I wish I could let go as easily (I´m not great at crying right now) but when I do want to cry, I make sure to always release it.

You could do google images--chirimoya or cherimoya. (I´ve seen different spellings in different locations). They have bumpy, turtle shell looking outsides. Inside there are small hard black seeds, inedible. It is white and custardy and sweet.

I did, my whole life! But I´m moving to upstate NY soon...bah!!! Do you live near Ecopolitan, you should be able to find people there. And they have green smoothies, which would work better with 811 than the gourmet stuff.

I was thinking more, that they have strong monthly periods to detox from their SAD diet--not ALL women on SAD, but like mentioned above by phantom, many women have lighter periods after detox/being on raw for awhile.

Olives have salt added, unless it says otherwise. I have had salt-free raw olives from Natural Zing and Sunfood Nutrition and loved them--but normally the salt is added.

I would be surprised if raw would help with this, since it's not really a health issue, but a pretty normal phenomenon--but eating raw does help me feel comfortable in my own skin. Sorry, I know that's not the answer you wanted! Maybe someone else has another experience.
