It's all sitting-in-front-of-a-computer work, but does involve researching and resolving people's problems. Basic customer service.

Thanks Panchito. Eating raw is not new to me. I've been away from it for s while now, though, and know I am "rusty". Plus, ideas change and new products come out thst are worth looking into. Sensitivity isn't too much of a concern to me- it didn't happen during my raw experience before, but I do know I'll be more tired and in need of good nutrition from work stressors and less sleep, so

I'm returning to raw after years away. For economic reasons I work 80 hours a week these days. Not much sleep. I need help constructing a raw diet that will give me the energy I need to make it through a 16 hour work day and 4 hours of sleep. Changing my work schedule is not an option- raw food and nutrition are my suggest I could use some ideas for good foods to help me get through this! Raw

Sapphire, you are right. There is always going to be something to pick on when it comes to critiquing someone's diet! I was thrilled to get my VitaMix and then people started talking about how bad it is that the container is made from polycarbonate (or something). :-D I agree with fruitarianfitness that there's nothing wrong with living the raw lifestyle we choose. Cheers, everyone!

The person who started the post put the word "purist" in quotes. I took that to mean that that was his/her own label for people who think of their raw diet in a way differently from niK. As soon as you put a label on someone you are constraining your ability to think creatively and are in danger of creating divisiveness, and niK used an accusatory and angry tone. Many of us who eat ra

nik is definitely mistaken, although s/he probably meant to say that of the raw manufactured products sold at Whole Foods, 90% are dehydrated. This is still incorrect, however. Raw chocolate, kombucha teas, raw oils, nuts, seeds, etc. make up the larger proportion of raw manufactured products at Whole Foods. Fresh, whole produce makes up the majority of all the raw products they sell, of course.

My dad used to make me shuck the corn and wash the vegetables he brought home from the farmer's market, and there were crab apple trees and berry bushes where I lived, so I guess I'm used to washing fruit off before I eat it. I've never worried about eating bugs. ;-)

People seem to really want blue eyes. I'm African American so I don't think about that stuff. My eyes were dark brown when I was 100% raw last year, and I expect they will always be dark brown as I get back to raw this year. I would love for the whites to get whiter because there are spots on them, but other than that, beautiful brown eyes work for me!

I think these suggestions are good- particularly those about making sure you get your basic nutrients. I had problems from going raw the first time around, including my hair falling out. I wouldn't call what I went through "detox"- it was a lack of proper nutrition. I jumped right into raw 100%, following what the raw enthusiasts said, and didn't think about nutrition because the en

I have struggled with eating disorders as well, Eating raw has been a miracle for me in helping me to see food as nutrition and fuel first, and pleasure second rather than the other way around. I believe that going raw and developing your diet is really a personal journey of trial and error because we each have different challenges and preferences. For example, I find that when I eat 100% raw my

One thing I've learned through eating raw is that one size does not fit all! One person swears by juicing, another swears by blending. As long as we are getting our nutrients in the ways that works best for us as individuals, we are doing the right thing- just not all the same way. Nothing wrong with that! I prefer blending because I need the fiber. When I juiced, I owned a L'equip juicer tha

Hello, everyone I ate 100% raw last year and due to ignorance, didn't get the proper nutrition. While I lost weight, I also lost hair, and in the end I lost my resolve. My protein levels were very low. I have once again embarked on a raw journey and am almost there, except for my fear of not getting enough protein.Because of that I have not given up Eggbeaters, cottage cheese and yogurt. I kn

Hi, everyone I am back on raw after a year off. I never purchased a really good blender my first time around and subsequently went through many broken/burned out machines. I want to buy one that has enough wattage of power- 700 doesn't appear to be enough. Also, I want metal, not plastic, around the motor and blades. Seems more sturdy and long-lasting. Vita-mixes are super expensive but I am c

Thanks everyone for all of the great input. I got my blood tested and found I have "borderline low" protein and calcium levels, but everything was still in the normal range. I'm thinking I might be one of those people who needs high protein, like one of the posters above mentioned. Gabriel Cousins also talks about how some vegetarians need more protein than others do. I saw a diet

I don't believe there is one way for every individual, nor do we all experience raw in the same way. For some of us the effects are all positive, for others they are more challenging. Still others find they cannot eat a mostly-raw diet for whatever reason. The advice people give about transitioning slowly is very good advice, I believe. That way, you can discover over time which foods you prefe

I didn't notice any changes in energy, calmness, alertness, etc. that I've read other transitioning raw foodists experience, but I was thrilled to immediately lose the pain I used to have in my tongue (my doctor had told me low iron was causing the pain) and to no longer experience cravings. It took a few weeks for other positive changes, like adjusting to the bitterness of some raw vegetables,

Protein is an issue for me, and I see by this long thread that the protein issue in not a cut-and-dried one for everyone. I've suffered from hair loss for the past couple of months since going raw but I cannot afford the blood tests to figure out what I might be deficient in. I know I get very little protein some days- below 30 grams. The advice I've gotten from many raw foodists is to increase

Those are all great ideas - except, maybe, the urine (haha!!). I have heard that the silica in cucumbers are helpful and I have tried it in smoothies. I have lost lots of weight in the past, but never 25lbs in one month. I'm slowing down now- about 10 lbs a month now, but I am hoping I haven't done permanent damage to my hair. Thanks again for the information. Someone also mentioned the chlo

I've gone through a bunch of challenges since starting raw January 1st. The good: I lost about 25 lbs the first month (wow!), lowered my blood pressure within a few short weeks, have seen my skin clear up, and even got rid of a very strange pain I was having in my tongue (my doctor said it was caused by iron deficiencey). The terrible lower back pains I had no longer plague me, and I no longer h

Hi, everyone! Since I started raw in january, 2006, I've been losing my hair around the crown of my head. I've gotten advice to eat more protein, such as through green smoothies, nuts and seeds, and brewer's yeast. I've had no success so far. If anyone has had hair loss from eating raw, what did you do to resolve the problem? How long did it take for your hair to start growing back? Daily, I ta
