Hey Meow! So good to *see* you again. You sound great! I have been eating high raw for the past several weeks, and am considering posting here again. Right now though, I just have a question for you. I noticed in your first post you said that you stopped eating high raw when training for a marathon, and felt like you had to choose between a raw diet and successful running. I am curren

Meow! It is so good to "see" you here again! I am so impressed with your animal shelter work - good for you! I got back from Thailand about six months ago, and am living in New Mexico now. It's funny, I have continued eating raw foods but not really at the percentages I would like, until a few weeks ago (about the same time as you). I started coming back to the forums becaus

Hi Soraya! Sorry you've been alone on here for the past few days...I was in Vietnam since I had a long weekend off from work. My trip was great and Hanoi, Vietnam is actually an excellent place for a raw foodist - believe it or not! Every menu I looked at offered fresh fruit juices and fruit plates, and I also found a great vegetarian restaurant with smoothies and salads. So I ate a fair am

Hey ladies, I didn't post for a few days because I went away for the weekend on a whim. I went to a beach a few hours south of Bangkok and it was really relaxing. The funny thing is that I hardly spent any time on the beach - it is just too hot here for me now! I read a whole book today in the town's air conditioned coffee house though - even though thats the kind of thing I could have done

Hello again... Well I managed to get up and go for a 5 mile run this morning. It felt so good, my legs were completely fresh after 2 days of swimming! I hope everyone is doing well! Here was my day: AM Workout: 5 mile run followed by a few minutes of pilates and stretching B: fresh squeezed OJ, green grapes, 2 bananas, and 2 apples Snack: a few dates Lunch: salad with organic greens

Thanks for the kind words, Soraya. I fully understand how frustrating it is when people criticize your eating choices. I get that a fair amount (as I'm sure we all do) and try to just let it roll off my back. That is not always easy though! Danielle, that is great that you are doing the 1/2 marathon! Also, your smoothies are making me drool, lol. I wish I had a blender here...I suppose I

Danielle, I am so excited for your new job prospect! That sounds perfect for you. I absolutely love dogs so I think I would enjoy that kind of job too. Thanks for talking some sense into me about eating after long workouts. I should just enjoy refueling my body and not worry about it! I used to be that way - I was a competitive swimmer and I've run 1/2 marathons so it's not like I'm not used

Chica - thanks for your inspirational message. I agree with Danielle: You must be a wonderful example of healthy living for your kids! Danielle - you are absolutely right: Satisfying your bread cravings wont kill you at all. I honestly feel better now than I felt when I was trying to be 100% raw because I respond to my cravings regularly without guilt. Also I am eating a lot less fat now.

Hey ladies! I'm a little tipsy as I write this because I decided to indulge in some light beer tonight . Here was my day: AM Workout: 4 mile run, a few minutes of abs/stretching B: 3 bananas, a bowl of organic blue cornflakes with soymilk and TBSP raw black sesame seeds (these are sooo good for you and I use them as a topping, which keeps me from buying and overeating nuts) L: Simple sal

Becky, I hope you can get some answers at the endocrynologist. Also, I hope a couple days at 100% will help you feel more in balance. I had another day of eating more cooked food than usual, but again I feel okay. No workout today either - I'm looking forward to a nice run tomorrow morning! B: 2 bananas and a small papaya L: fresh squeezed OJ, papaya chunks, then some brown rice, sweet p

Good to hear from you, Becky! Sounds like you are doing well! Danielle, no my boyfriend has not been to Thailand before. I am excited for him to see it! Also, I agree with you about outdoor cafes: I absolutely love them! A lot of the restaurants here are outside; it's great. I always have the same experience when I order smoothies w/o sugar. I get looks like I am crazy; and I always expl

Looks like it's still just me and you, Danielle! I hope you are doing well, Becky and Soraya! Danielle, I hope you had fun in Santa Monica. My grandma lives there so I have been many times. You are right that your cheat day does not look like much at all! I am sorry to hear that you had a rough day at work. I was underappreciated in my last job (I got laid off by the assholes!) and it was

Danielle, I hope you found some time to relax after work! Days like that are crazy. You're right, everyone seems to be busy! I myself won't be on for a couple days because I am going away this weekend (leaving in like 20 minutes). My meals yesterday were good. I'm kind of lazy to post everything but basically I had a lot of fruit (OJ, bananas, papaya, grapes, raisins, pineapple), a salad f

Hi ladies, Danielle, a comedy club sounds really fun! My day was more cooked than usual but fine calorie wise. I went out to a Japanese restaurant with my friend and it was a nice change from Thai food. I used to be obsessed with Japanese food and I hadn't had it in a while. Anyway, here is my lame eating day (not really, just lame for a raw food forum, lol): B: 8oz OJ, banana, rais

Becky, if you are truly hungry at night I see no problem with eating after 8pm. I just finished some grapes and it is 10:53 here, lol. However if your night eating is more out of habit/boredom I think it's a good goal to work towards reducing it. Danielle, I totally know what you mean about eating fruits you haven't had in a while. That's how I felt when I first came here! I am also lookin

Hi ladies! Sorry I've been MIA for a couple days...my friend was back in Bangkok (she traveled to other parts of Thailand then came back to see me...we had so much fun but now she's gone ...at least I can look on the bright side that I won't have to consider someone else when I think about meals! Well, I have had little appetite lately. It's weird but I'm just going with it. I think I had

Hi ladies, Danielle, did you make it to the beach yet?? That sounds like so much fun! Soraya, I hope you have fun reorganizing. Oops I forgot to add my bday: it's April 30! Becky, I also think it's cool that you realized you are basically the same size as you were in HS - I'm sure that was a great wake up call for you! Soraya and Danielle, I hope you have a great day! Well today I had a great 6 mile run (I just didn't want to stop, so I went with it) and ate almost all raw. If I hadn't gotten invited out for din

Soraya, I love hearing about your fruit stash! I love bananas, grapes, and oranges...I have always gravitated towards super sweet fruits. I guess that is my way of making up for the sweet tooth I had when I was younger - only then I gravitated towards chocolate, sweet cereals, ice cream, etc! Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well. I had a much better day eating wise today. I started with a

Hi Ladies! Jackie: Welcome! Becky: So sorry to hear about your friend. You make a good point that we should all be grateful for our health and the things our bodies are able to do. I am actually pretty good at keeping this in mind, usually. Danielle: I hope they catch the guy! On a separate note, it sounds like you have some very lucky cats...you are so good to them! So today I was

Hi ladies! I'm back . I was happy to see that all of you are doing well. I really appreciate how supportive we are of each other as we figure things out with raw foodism! I can't really respond to each post right now, but I just wanted to say that! Anyway, my weekend away with my mom and friend was so much fun. Food wise it was quite good as well. We were up in the Thai countryside so

Becky, good job not eating after 7pm! Never apologize for "rambling" here! That is what this thread is for. So today I am really excited because my mom and one of my best friends from home are flying in. I have Thurs and Fri off from work so my mom and I are going to do some trekking up North to get out of Bangkok. My friend is traveling on her own while we do this, and she'll co

Becky, I think it is a good idea to get checked for hypothyroidism considering your hair loss and the fact that it runs in your family. I can certainly understand why you are doubting whether raw is right for you. I do think you have a good plan to eat fruits/veggies and see where you are in a week. A week is totally reasonable and it's not like you're saying "I'm going to be 100 percent

Becky, glad to hear the counseling center was a success so far! You should definitely be happy about the 13 days you made it 100% raw. That is great! Here is what I ate today (easier to just list it all b/c it was at random snacking times rather than meals): AM Workout: 5 mile run, some abs/stretching afterwards -grapes -mango -pineapple chunks -an apple -oranges -a small raw donut!

Becky, thanks for your insight about my traveling situation. Things are a lot better for me now that I'm here for 4 months. With my previous job I lived in a different place every single month, and that was very hard for me. I agree with you that it is okay to give into my cravings once in a while. Maybe last night I should have recognized that I was craving denser food and had some rice alon

Hey ladies! Becky, I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy right now in law school. I love what Danielle said about nothing being permanent. I myself have been having a tough time since I graduated from college in 06. I taught/traveled for 1.5 years and now I am in Thailand coaching swimming. I feel so lucky to have had these experiences but also very lonely at times. I have no real, perm
