Everyone is telling me to plant trees in late fall and then wrap them up if there's a frost coming, so I think I might try that. We have a few citrus trees but I really want some more variety. Now we just have to clear out the gardening area and get going.

I'm currently pregnant and trying my hardest to stay raw although cravings are getting the better of me a lot. I craved oranges every day when I was first pregnant, right now all I want is watermelon every single day. I have no morning sickness whatsoever and I really feel like that's thanks to what I'm eating since everyone else I know has had terrible nausea. I posted a raw pregnancy diary in

Yeah I got a message too from johnbb10. I wrote back a politely declined. It didn't seem like the usual spam I get but make your own judgements I guess.

These are my dream homes. Living in Arizona I might actually make that a reality someday. We could easily buy some property outside the Phoenix area and start building slowly but surely. Once we dig ourselves out of the debt that we're in right now I'm going to look seriously into making that a reality. There's a community in Taos, New Mexico of all Earthships, I think we're going to make a w

Oh god no. His family raised him in Wal Mart ground beef and other such crap. The only raw food he had was off the citrus trees in his backyard and some tabboule.

I'm posting this here because it seems to be a more active part of the board and nobody answered me in the gardening area. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Gonna start with a disclaimer, because I really know NOTHING about this. I gardened when I was going up in Chicago and planted lots of trees but it's SO different out here. The soil is weird and I can't seem to make things grow. I thi

I wonder if there is something in the cooking process that bugs him...that's a thought I had too. It definitely seems that removing all the animal products and highly processed foods from his diet made a huge difference.

It's really wonderful. I don't know when I've seen my husband happier and healthier. He's quit smoking and has lost about 15 pounds too.

Has anyone else had this experience? My husband is not much of a poster so I'm relaying a lot of his experiences here as well as mine. He has had acid reflux for a good 10 years if not more. For years he would wake up and literally throw up every single day. He's taken Prevacid twice a day for as long as we've been together and popped Tums like candy and still had terrible heartburn. He went t

When people tell me I'm weird or that what I eat is weird I just smile and say thank you.

Wow so the only time I'm being normal is when I go to the drive though and get a Big Mac? Because I'm not planning it...what a load of crap. When I ate SAD I remember spending hours planning my food. Making corned beef and cabbage for St Patricks day was a several days long event. What a bunch of crap. Putting garbage in your body every day and passively killing yourself is what's not normal.

I'm starting to show a little already. I haven't gained any weight, it's more like my weight has shifted. My face, arms, and legs are thinner and my stomach is bigger(boobs too). Wearing my regular pants is very uncomfortable so I'm wearing maternity pants already. It feels kind of silly since I'm not very far along at all, but whatever...they fit and they're so comfy. I'm craving watermelon li

I've gotten something similar, especially because I'm pregnant as well and people preface their rude comments with concern that I'm not eating right for the baby. I start off nice but I have been rude back if needed. Most conversations end with "Me and my doctor are both very happy with what I eat, so please drop this issue because I do not want to fight with you." I do a lot of "I

It might sound weird but bananas worked for me in place of soy milk in my smoothies.

Damn nothing in Arizona. I work for Go Daddy. Good money...but the environment is iffy. I think I'm just sick of working in a call center though.

My husband and I both supplement. We're new to raw and probably won't do it after we get accustomed to eating right but right now I worry that we don't know enough about nutrition to get the right amount of vitamins and nutrients. So for now we both take a vegan multi vitamin and are very happy with that. My husband has suffered from severe acid reflux for a very long time. He took Prevacid twic

SimpleLiving those pies looked delicious! Anyone who declined to eat them just missed out and the way I see it...more for you! I have a hard time sometimes seeing people eat food that I know is slowly killing them, but I try to remember when I ate that way and I know I didn't want to hear from anyone about my diet so I do my best to keep my mouth shut. Just enjoy what you eat and by your example

I probably spend about $100 a week for both me and my husband. I buy groceries almost every day or every other day and I take my time shopping and try to keep things as cheap as possible. It takes work, but a $400 a month food bill keeps me pretty happy. I pay a lot extra for organics. It's 100% worth it to me, I just don't like the idea of poison on my foods. The stuff I get deals on are non

I shave my armpits about once every other week and my legs maybe once a month. I'm a redhead though so all my hair is super pale, the only way you would notice it is if it gets really long. My husband was a welder for a long time too, he has super thick callouses on his hands and never notices if I shave unless he can actually see the hair, so it's wasted on him. I shaved much more often when I w

Hopefully this is just normal stuff for the first trimester, but dear god I'm sick of being exhausted all the time. I realize I'm lucky to not have terrible morning sickness like a lot of people I know, but I think that's related to not putting toxic junk in my body. I'm just SO tired all the time and it doesn't seem to matter how I fiddle with my diet. Nothing makes a difference. I barely make

Thanks for the suggestion. I think I will try to see a nutritionist about what I should be eating. I'm reading a lot about nutrition and what is needed during pregnancy and trying very hard to make sure I get what I need. I even decided to take a prenatal just in case and have been eating some cooked kidney beans to get extra protein(I figured out of all the things I could eat cooked, that's pret

The easiest part for me is the no cooking, minimal cleanup aspect of things. I backslid a little the other day and made some rice and beans and when I was cleaning up I started thinking about how much I hate cooking and having to scub and scrape pots and pans. When I'm done with my apple, I throw the core in my compost heap and I'm done, same with watermelon or a banana. I love having basically n

I live in Phoenix. We have tons of citrus trees, fig trees, pomegranate trees and almond trees everywhere, they do so well in the soil here and handle the heat well too. Now if only I can get an apple tree to take...

Ewwww....just the mention of tuna noodle casserole gives me the heebie jeebies. My mom used to make it all the time, that and meatloaf. I remember sitting at the table for hours trying to choke down cold noodles and ketchup covered meatloaf and then feeding it my dog. I liked meat then too, some good chicken would have made me happy, but I seriously think I would throw up if I ever had to eat tun

So lately all I want is super sweet food. I caved in and ate some junk but then realized what I really want is watermelon and have been eating that every day for a week. It's ridiculous how happy watermelon makes me. No morning sickness or anything, just a lot of bloating and tiredness. I went to see a doctor yesterday who I could not stand. He will not be my doctor. I didn't even tell him I eat

I've actually had the opposite experience. After struggling for a year to get pregnant, I went raw and was pregnant within a month. If you are drastically underweight you may stop getting your period. I have also read that a lot of women who go raw stop getting their periods as well and that it's not neccessarily a bad thing. I would hit up some of the raw food sites out there, I know there's i

Does anyone else have an almond tree? My husband planted one and we have the most delicious almonds now. They taste like crunchy cucumbers and not at all like the almonds I've had before. It's great because I never actually liked regular almonds, but these are fantastic. I've read a lot about soaking nuts and things like that..is this something I need to do with almonds off the tree?

I go to the saltwater pool at my gym and that's it. I started smelling a lot of chlorine in my water too and we ended up installing a filter on the shower head.
