Would a PVC pipe and plastic sheeting greenhouse work even in the winter? Wouldn't it freeze?

Never mind my idea of building a greenhouse. That wasn't the smartest of ideas that I have had. I do not own this house. What if one day I have to move? I will have wasted all that energy and money for nothing. New plan. Better plan. I have a big basement that is unfinished with 2 rooms. There is also a floor drain in one of the rooms and a water hose down there. Why can't I just invest in som

It is much more expensive. In the past my kids would eat things like mac and cheese ($0.45 per box), Vienna sausages ($0.50 per can) by the way... that's disgusting... vienna sausages I mean. When I switched my family to raw, I was feeding, and shopping raw for 7 people. They ate ALOT. I just couldn't seem to keep it in the house. I know that's a good thing but eventually it got very expensive

Well folks, I stopped eating raw because I just couldn't afford it anymore. I was overdrawn at the bank and everything. But then as soon as I stopped eating raw I became very sick. My bowels were (are) all screwed up and I was having headaches and everything. So the bottom line I guess is that I have to be raw no matter whether I can afford it or not. I am even starting to gain weight again! T

Brian This is messed up. You are one of the people who I thought knew his stuff when looking into this lifestyle. And now u r being insulting to people (seemingly). Will you treat ME that way too? Knowing that I am an alcoholic and tring to get out of it? You know where I am coming from. Ok so some people smoke pot. I don't believe in it either! But that is their decision, not mine or yours.

I agree with the idea that eating raw will cause the alcohol to impact you more. I drink alot. I always have. However I don't drink as much now than I did when I was 19 or so. I have calmed down a bit. My fave is wine, chardonay to be specific. I have noticed that since eating mostly raw I get drunk much easier. It use to be 3 or 4 glasses and I was toasted, now it's 1 maybe 1 1/2. I also am n

I have been very depressed today because I have realized that since going mostly raw my grocery bill has gone through the roof. The only way I can keep this up is if I buy cheap as heck and not organic. I felt very guilty about this at first but now after reading these posts I feel much better. It's a great feeling to know that I am not the only one who is on a tight budget. A good buy I f

I don't mean to go against the flow here. I mean I am just as big a believer as anyone else in raw eating but the only thing I have found to heal my candida was yogurt. When I was breastfeeding my daughter I noticed that her tongue was completely white and I was in tramendous pain. I didn't know what to do and I didn't want to go to a doctor because I knew that S/he would just put us on poison

How quickly... well I tried going raw the next day back when I was pregnant with my last child. I talked my hubby into it and we decided to go on a 2 week trial. We threw all the food away in the house along with the coffee pot and things like that. It was great at first but then we found ourselves making excuses to go out to eat. The kids wouldn't stop complaining. It was pretty rough. We then c

I understand totally!! I am the same way! I have been trying to go raw for years now but it is hard! BUT... it is worth the effort. Every attempt you make it gets easier! Try different things! For instance... The other day I was craving spaghetti really bad (my fave food of all time) so I made myself a deal. I told myself that I would make a raw version and if that didn't hit the spot then I woul

Ok guys! I just made a "green smoothie" except I added 3 bananas instead of 2, some spinach, and an avacado. My 8 month old (Sylvia) LOVED IT!!! I made it thicker... more like a pudding. She ate a whole quart of it today! I couldn' feed her fast enough. She was just eating it without spilling or spitting anything out! She's never done that before! It was crazy! I think I found the thing

I have decided not to worry too much about actually having her latch on. I was just going to rent the pump and bottle feed her but with breast milk. It will be easier and more convenient for all involved. Funny thing. I thought I was doing the wrong thing by putting my kids on the raw diet because my 8 month old wouldn't take her bottle of juice, and was crying alot. I thought she was having a

That is too funny. Just the way you wrote it. I'm sure you probably didn't find it funny at the time though. Congrats on releasing your "demons".

You know those steel balls that people use as stress releivers by rolling them around in one hand? (Well I guess that's what they are doing) I think avacodo pits would work well for this too, don't you think so? River Willow

Fantastic! I never thought of making smoothies into popsicles! That is a groovy idea! Green popsicles. And if they don't like it cause it's green I will explain that they are special "Shrek" sicles. They'll love it! Thanks for the great info and have a great day!!! River Willow

Groovy! My husband has been wanting to manifest this idea for several years now. In fact that is our main life goal. Our village would consist of our pagan friends and we were thinking of calling it "paganopolis". No seriously! That is part of the reason we are back in college, because with the jobs we have now we cannot afford to make this happen. If we have higher paying jobs (whic

Hello again everyone!! Thanks for all the advice. It is very helpful. My husband and I are both back in college (at 31 yrs of age!), so taking on breastfeeding will be a bit challenging right now with all the other things we are doing but it will be well worth it. I am going to college for healthcare administration. I plan on going all the way with this (masters degree). I chose this deg

About the Le Leche Legue thing... I might take that into consideration. I breast fed all my children except the first. But only for 2 months or so. But the baby, I fed her for about 3 months with the use of a breast pump. I know I can restart my milk supply I just have to go get the pump again. Perhaps it will be worth it, just to get her where I want her to be. If I choose to actually nurse her,

David Hello again! I understand that people are responsible for their own choices of what to eat, but what bothers me is that they don't have the information needed to make educated decisions. I only learned about raw eating about 2 years ago. Before then, I honestly didn't know any better. Why?? This seams to be common sense! UGH, perhaps I am being too dramatic! I am famous for that. I

David- Thank you for responding! I really appreciate it. I haven't thought about counting calories, maybe I should try it. All I have been doing is letting them cue me as to when they are hungry. I leave the dining table stocked to the brim with fresh fruits and veggies this way my older kids and the 2 year old can just go and take what they want when they want. It seems to work great!

I need help. I am in the process of transitioning my whole family to a 100% raw foods lifestyle. The problem is that I am scared to death of doing it wrong. I have a 2 year old and an 8 month old. I took her off her formula because I truly believe it to be poisonous, and I took the 2 year old off cows milk for the same reason. For about a week or so now I have been giving both of them fruit and v

Throw several (5 or 6) roma tomatoes in the food processor along with 1/4 onion, several garlic cloves, a little water, parsley, oregano, and basil and a little sea salt. Process for a couple minutes. Then add mushrooms, bellpepper and process a little more. Add a couple dates if you want a sweeter taste. Then add a handful or so of walnuts or pecans. Process. You know have a mess of what I think

I finally got one also. Cheap but I will move up next time. I am using it to help transition my kids to raw. WOW you guys should see some of the diapers I am changing now! I wasn't expecting them to like it so much. Is it possible to "Overjuice" your kids? River

I hate to say it but I am also an alcoholic. My favorite is wine. I use to drink so much beer that I would black out. That was a long time ago though. Now I seem to have a bit more control now. I do feel that my raw diet helps. I feel less of a desire to drink now. I still want to but instead of feeling like I HAVE to, it just feels like I could use a glass of wine instead. Know what I mean? Gone

Well, yesterday I took my dad out to a chinese restaraunt. I didn't think much about it not being raw. I just thought that it wouldn't really affect me. Then after work that night I just was unusually hungry for some reason. My hubby bought some food from the store and so I ate that. It was doritos with spinach dip, and these spinach and mushroom type appetisers. I was just soooo very hungry and
