Sorry to hear about the kitty at work. :/ To answer your question about my fav. Lara bars, I really like the fruit pie ones. Key Lime Pie is my current favorite. I saw that you recommended the cashew cookie flavor and bought that today. I'll let you know what I think!

Today is a fresh start for me. I realized that I really do need to stay with the high raw diet after having heart burn this weekend and not feeling well in general energy-wise. All of the acidic coffee last week caught up to me and that is all the motivation I need to cut out the coffee again and stick with the diet. Here is the menu for today: NO coffee or tea! banana 2 valencia oranges

This 811 challenge is much more difficult than I thought! I could make a million excuses about my new job, winter, etc. but honestly I think I am just not ready to commit to the high raw levels I was doing back in December and much of January. At this point I am happy with raw breakfast and lunch and a salad + low fat vegan dinner. I am proud of all of the improvements I've made so far and wil

I am having a repeat of Monday today where I just don't feel right. I feel nauseous when I think about food so I am done eating for today. This is what I had: green smoothie w/ ~2 c. spinach and 3 bananas apple 1/2 cantaloupe, grapes banana I plan to relax tonight, get proper sleep, and hopefully feel better tomorrow.

Today was a much better day in some ways. I felt more energetic than yesterday and avoided coffee, but I had green tea and some non-raw (vegan) food at a restaurant this evening. I came home starving and had zero fruit and veggies so that is what led to the restaurant. :/ I just went to the store on Sunday so I did not plan very well at all. I stocked up at the grocery store for the rest of

Today was my first day doing the 811 challenge with Meow. It was a bit of a rough day unfortunately. I had trouble falling asleep last night because I napped yesterday, and I felt very tired this morning. Then I missed my bus and transfer but luckily got a ride to work and still made it on time. While I waited in the single digit weather for my ride, however, I gave in to the temptation of a

Monday for 811 it is then! I can't wait. Yes, I do believe overt fats are okay on 811 as long as it is 10%, but I know for me it is nearly impossible to keep it low fat if overt fats are involved. I will do a better job posting my daily menus starting Monday too. Have a great weekend!

You are doing so well! I am glad you would like to do a 811 challenge because I need it bad. I just started a new job on Monday and this week has been crazy and I am rapidly sliding back into old habits. I had coffee today for the first time in over a month. And it was delicious. A few hours later though, I felt feverish and sick. I still have been eating mostly raw so it could be worse but

Congrats on the pants downsizing! I recently lost 2 pants sizes as well and it feels really great except now I have nothing to wear. :/ I would like to try the 811 sometime as well. Did you read the book? I have not, but I like what Dr. Graham says on his website. When I did the Raw Divas detox I think I was doing close to 811 and it was a very positive experience both in terms of energy a

I used to love moving to different states too. It is definitely an adventure and I feel my personal growth accelerates with each new place. The only downside is leaving friends and having to make new ones all over again. After spending more time in Southern California this past week I would love to live there someday, or maybe move back to Tucson. Did you find out the brand of that almond b

Vacation in San Diego was wonderful! My vitamin D stores are replenished and I feel clear-minded. Eating the way I do at home was a little more difficult but I did a good job loading up on produce from the farmer's market and grocery stores. The days I did not eat all raw foods, I had a cooked vegan dinner. In the words of a man at the San Diego farmer's market selling "green fix&quo

Good news- I was offered a wonderful job yesterday! I will be working in the development department of my local nature center. Even better news- I leave for San Diego tomorrow for 8 days to visit a friend! I will be gaining about 70 degrees. Right now it is -19 degrees in Saint Paul, MN! Thankfully I do not need to leave the house. I am so thankful I am able to take this trip and know tha

For the past week or so I've had trouble with my right ear plugging, especially when I am outdoors and sniffle. It can stay plugged for quite a while and it is very annoying. In the past, I have had trouble with wax build up but use a softener and let water run into my ears when I shower. I do not use Q-tips. I am healthy at the moment with no cold, so I do not understand why this is happenin

Today is a good day! I woke up early and laid in bed listening to a Raw Vegan Radio podcast. My fruit bowls were down to just 3 oranges already, so I walked to the co-op and felt guilty about all of the money I spent. It was also exciting though, because I wandered through the bulk isles and made some new discoveries such as raw almonds, raw sunflower seeds, raw pumpkin seeds, raw goji cacao bi

Glad to see the green smoothies on your menu! Have you seen the show Underdog to Wonderdog on Animal Planet? I taped it the other day and it was a really cute show. They basically take dogs that are not adoptable and work with them intensively to get them adopted faster. I thought of you when I watched it. ps. I'm not sure what kind of vinegar you use, but I recently learned that most

Yes, Jodi it makes me extremely ticked off! I can't wait until the spring so I can grow my own veggies in my small raised garden bed. Last year I had really great yellow tomatoes and lemon basil. I was reading up on indoor growing but it seems very expensive to get all of the supplies. I don't think it would pay off for me right now. I just finished reading the Ethics of What We Eat and it

You are being brave with the kale green smoothies. Those are not my favorite. I love spinach ones though. I almost always use bananas and greens for green smoothies because they are very sweet and I don't taste the greens at all. I don't have a high power blender, so I usually cover the blades with water and chop/liquefy about 2 cups of greens. Then I blend in 2-3 bananas. I've also tri

That raw blog is really great. Thanks for sharing! I thought it was interesting how restless and irritable the little boy became after his grandma gave him ice cream. And that is excellent news about all of the animal adoptions!

I haven't been 100% raw these past couple of days but the cooked foods I've been eating are fairly healthy- oatmeal, steamed broccoli, plain bread. I'm trying to stretch my food right now since I am on a tight budget, so I'm using up the things I have, raw or not. My fruit bowls are completely empty right now and sad looking, so I will have to make a trip the co-op today anyway. I don't re

First day of unemployment. I feel good actually, and I owe that to how I've been taking care of myself lately. If I had still been on my old path, I would have been drinking coffee and beer, eating cheap junk, and feeling like @#$%&. Instead I am sticking with my daily meditation, yoga, walks, and high raw foods diet. Yesterday was my first day after the Raw Divas program, and I was able

I am just recently transitioning to raw and instead of the more strenuous workouts I used to do (running, group weight/cardio training), I do yoga and walk instead. It seems more in-tune with my diet and is easier on my body in the long run. Also, I noticed that if I eat fruits higher on the glycemic scale (ie. bananas) before working out, I have more immediate energy to burn. Good luck!

On Nutritiondata.com you can do a search for any fruit or vegetable and it shows if it is inflammatory or anti-inflammatory . I don't have any experience with this, but maybe if you try eating foods that are higher in anti-inflammatory qualities the swelling will subside faster. Anyone else know more about this?

Today is my final day of the Raw Divas 7 Day Detox Program. One of the best things I learned from it is how to avoid fats. I never thought in a million years I would eat a salad without dressing or at least an avocado! I do have a couple of avocados on the shelf for the next week, but I plan to eat fats sparingly from now on. Another great thing I learned came in a Raw Divas support email. T
