Where can I find out what juice fasts are out there? Just doing an internet search? Anyone know of a place that discusses and compares various ones? I'm in Thailand, so some things are not readily available here. Plus, I really don't wanna add lots of supplements. I wanna get healthy and consider water fasting to be probably the fastest kickstart but I think a juice fast is probably more sens

HIYA! I wanna give my parents a dinner at a raw restaurant. I've searched the internet for raw restaurants in the north bay, but everything I can't find anything. I've found that several restaurants have closed, but haven't found anything still open. Ah, no, Cafe Gratitude in Berkeley. But, my parents live in Healdsburg, near Santa Rosa, a couple hours' drive north of SF, and I'd like somethin

HIYA! I just moved into the Detroit Zen Center. We've got a cafe here where the food is mosetly raw. Lots of sprouts. We're sprouting garbanzos. I've just started helping with the sprouts and the wheatgrass. I noticed some of the garbanzos that are still in the sprouting jar are darker than most. I don't know how many days they've been in there but the sprouts are up to 3 or so milimeters.

powerlifter, no I don't rebound. I've seen the word thrown around a lot over the years on this forum so I looked it up and see that it involves a trampoline. I read that it's not simply bouncing up and down .... Anyway, I'm traveling now, and won't be in a position to rebound any time in my foreseeable future. Looks like great fun though. Exercise ... that's something I am not consistent with

HIYA! I´ve been a few months pregnant for decades! Or so it looks. When I look in the mirror I see it clearly. Or when I look straight down, again, I see it clearly. I wonder what´s inside. I wonder if it´s ¨normal¨ to have this bulge. My feeling is that it´s not. I once asked a college anatomy professor if it´s normal. He said it is. But he´s fat! I know there are lots of peop

HIYA Everybody! Thanks for the welcome back. The Arnold Ehret book is called The Mucusless Diet Healing System. Published in 1916 I think. I think it´s considered one of his best books. I thought it was great. Haven´t read any of his others. This one came to me as a big surprise. Suncloud, I don´t remember very well Ehret´s explanation. But it seems possble he used the same rationa

HIYA! Traveling in Central America until late spring. Want to do some fasting. Finally read Arnold Ehret's "Mucusless Diet Healing System". More sure than ever that a big reason I'm not thriving on mostly raw is that I need to clean out. Saw his suggestion to do a short three-day fast, then eat for a day or more, then do another short fast, then eat again for a day or more ... an

I wouldn't be so concerned about just this much sugar at once. If you didn't then go and eat more sugary foods, and, if you didn't feel weird then what's the worry? I'm pretty sure the greens did slow down the uptake of the sugar into your bloodstream. As for the whiteheads. It could be that you had too much sugar in your body, or too much of some thing or another and that the face was a

Boy, I would think there are other greens out there that you'd like. Have you ever even seen Mallow? It's delicious. It's a relative of Okra. It's also mucilaginous. Easy to just eat and eat and eat just on it's own. How about Lambsquarters? Or Purslane? These are "weeds". Some raw fooders eat them. I do. For me, I can just eat and eat and eat them both without any dressing or witho

Latex in the skin ... same with papayas. And like the latex in fig skins, the latex in unripe papayas is SAVAGE on your lips. I don't know of any way to deal with it except to grin and bear it until the stinging fades.

This is why I'm considering eating green tomatoes: > I've got vines growing way way out of control. > It's past time to cut them back. I have cut them > before and inadvertently cut vines that had unripe > tomatoes on them. It's a shame to throw them away > if they're good to eat. I don't think they'll ripen if they're very unripe. But, I will put them in the sun if the

Seems I've heard that green tomatoes are especially toxic. I realize that many people say to stay away from Nightshades. Just the same, I'll eat the ripe ones happily. It's the green ones I am wondering about. I've got vines growing way way out of control. It's past time to cut them back. I have cut them before and inadvertently cut vines that had unripe tomatoes on them. It's a shame to thro

I've seen quite a few papayas with sprouted seeds. I've eaten my share, but boy, they were usually quite bitter. The seeds are usually bitter anyway, but, if I remember correctly, they were really bitter when sprouted. A fun thing to try is this. You know that papaya seeds taste bitter, right? Try removing the slimy / mucousy outer covering. Either use your teeth and eat the stuff, or remove

Boy, I'D send you seeds if I were sure it wouldn't introduce harmful bacteria to your area. I mean, bacteria that your area isn't used to. I live in South Korea. There are several varieties that grow wild here. I've eaten them all. Quite nice tasting. Having said that, I will tell you that I once stopped by a roadside stall in front of someone's house. They were selling vegetables and / or fr

I've read a few posts where people have actually claimed that coffee ain't so bad. Defending it. It's a shock to me. I understand that there are polyphenols in coffee, but so what? Polyphenols are common in raw fruits and vegetables too, right? What else is it about coffee that people point to as healthful? Really curious. I must say that I have grown to love the taste but sure don't beleive

Boy ... I'm geared up. I've got some questions for ya all. 1. Square foot gardening - is this possible to do organically? I just looked at the home page and didn't read the stuff. I'm not in a position to do this anyway. But I'm curious because I like to know of novel ideas, especially "sustainable" ones. 2. I've long wondered about urban gardens. It seems to me there is so much

Don't know what a dry cough is, but this is what I do each time I have a cough that won't go away. You know, those little scratches that make you cough again and again. No matter how much you cough, it doesn't stop. I don't get it very often anymore but it used to be really irritating. It'd never stop so I got the idea one day to not cough and see what would happen. This is what I do. I just

When I lived in Thailand I used to buy them pretty frequently. Now that I'm in Korea, they're too expensive. But I used to love them in a banana smoothie. I'd soak a handful of berries for an hour or so in plain water, or young cocounut water, just long enough to get them soft, then toss them in the blender with a few bananas. Man did I ever love that taste. Try it out.

I've heard and read that there are people who say that cooking spinach actually activates the oxalic acid so that it binds with iron, thus preventing absorbtion. I searched the internet and here are a few things I found. Seems the prevailing argument is that raw spinach is the culprit, not the cooked stuff. But, according to raw fooder "experts" cooking denatures so many things that wha

I've lived in several Asian countries and my favorite is Thailand. Hot and humid in summers but boy there are so many positives. And, shoot, I handle heat and humidity pretty well. I am next strongly considering Belize. There's an opportunity there that awaits me. If I get there in time, if it's a good match, and if a couple of other things work out, boy, that's where I just might sit for the

I have no recommendations for a mercury detox program or specific foods. How do you feel now that you've had the mercury removed? I had mine removed but didn't notice anything at all. The dentist I went to didn't use any sort of protection at all. There was no protection of any sort. Not for me, not for him, and not for the dental assistants. Don't know what sort of price we're paying healthwise
