Hi rawne: The entire raw foods philosophy might be a bit much for your friend just now, but I suggest that you track down a book called "Your Life in Your Hands" by Jane Plant - fascinating information about the correlation between dairy consumption and cancer rates around the world. And the diet is entirely doable, even for someone completely accustomed to a SAD diet. Good luc

I saw a wonderful documentary called "A Small Act" WOW, that was so amazing, how one woman made such an impact on so many people with one simple thing, it reminds me so much that everything we do has the power to change people's lives in ways we can't even imagine. Here is the trailer - you must track this movie down if you get the chance: Such an incredible co-incidence th

Hi coco: I had it done right after my fourth child was born in 1993. I don't recall any ill effects. It seems to me that my periods got a little shorter, although more intense for a day or two sometimes, but who knows whether that was connected, or just an adjustment after five years of almost continuous pregnancies (I had four kids in four and a half years). Then, when I had to do chem

I can only imagine what a useful and relatively safe device a taser must be from the point of the law enforcement person, but there is no doubt they can be misused, and with very tragic consequences.

Thanks Tamukha: She has completed her Grade 7 Royal Conservatory examinations - I think that goes up to Grade 10 in total. I don't know a whole lot about classical voice, but from what I understand, not only does she still have much to learn, but she is still very young (18), and can expect her voice to continue to mature. (I was astonished at the last festival we attended when the adjudicat

My daughter did a piece yesterday that I just loved, so I thought I would share it: Lascia Ch'io Pianga (Handel) from Rinaldo: Aside from loving the music, I am amazed at the way the classical training has enabled her to make her voice carry so well - the other singers all needed microphones, but she didn't bother even though it was quite a large theatre. I was filming with my little

Vivaldi is amazing. My daughter won an award from a local music festival this past Saturday for singing Vivaldi's "Domine Deus". It was so beautiful, although the regulations did not allow me to record any of it. Thank you so much for those links arugula! Sapphire

Mmmmm watermelon.... My kids have brought home a couple of those little mini watermelons, and they are so tasteless... But it sure got me in the mood for the real thing, can't wait to start seeing them in the stores!! I know, I always seem to pay a small fortune for the first few watermelons I buy every summer, but I just can't wait for the price to come down LOL!!

I saw a movie called Chemercial a while ago, and found it quite interesting. They had a home made laundry soap which is supposed to be suitable for the high efficiency as well as the old style washing machines (because it is low suds). I think I read that you are supposed to stir it up each time before you use it. If I ever get around to trying it, I will let you know what I thought. I th

Hi Klandestine! Now that you are past the 30 day mark, how are ya feeling? Have you noticed any specific changes? Is your overall energy improved at all? How about your sleep and your moods - any changes? Any weight gain or loss, or are you even keeping track? (Clothes fitting any differently yet?) This is so fascinating - I hope you keep posting, even though it may seem a little repet

I don't think it is really any hormone imbalance as much as it is just a matter of getting better in touch with your feelings - I know I have posted this video before, but in case you haven't watched it, I think she explains it better than anyone:

WOW !!! Ten days tomorrow !!! Yahoo - that is just fantastic - for me, that would probably be about the time I would start to struggle with sticking with any program. I think maybe you are making it sound much easier than it really is - I know from watching my kids do this workout that it is a very intense workout!! Definitely not for the faint of heart! GOOD FOR YOU - YOU ARE DOING

Thank you so much for posting, I am very interested in how it goes! My son convinced me to buy this for him a few months ago, and he started, but lost interest. Right now, I don't think I am ready to do such a challenging workout, but who knows, maybe one day. Seems like people get spectacular results - please keep posting, My son never did try the yoga video, he thinks yoga is for little

I live in Canada, and it has been my experience that it is readily available in any health food store. I think most of the dulse I buy comes from the east coast of Canada. I have even bought it at the grocery store, it is pretty easy to find. (and I live on the west coast, so I am sure it must be available most places). I have never bought it online. Good luck!

Here are some of my strategies: I try to refer to a lot of my raw recipes as "salads". Almost anything made of raw food can be called a salad. For example, when I make raw zucchini noodles with raw marinara sauce, I call it zucchini and tomato salad that looks like spagetti. My hubby has never had a problem eating salad, as long as that does not become his total meal. So on an av

Hi Maryl_E: You may find this very interesting, Steve Pavlina did a 30 day raw food diet, and he kept a fantastic journal - tons of information (pictures, calorie totals, personal weight changes and so on) - you can read everything he ate from the first to the 30th day, and all sorts of other information. It might give you some good ideas about how much fruit and so on it is ok to eat - here

I think that getting a good headache is a classic symptom of detoxification, especially from caffeine (ie, coffee), and will be gone in a few days. Maybe it is a really great sign that things are going well! There are two core juice combinations on the Gerson therapy. Whether you decide to follow the guidelines is up to you, but I think carrot juice would be very beneficial and it is very imp

Wow, some really great comments here, and interesting information. Wheatgrass, you always have so many great comments and ideas, and I agree with you to a certain degree about the cooked food. I can’t say that I have ever tried coffee enemas, so I can’t agree or disagree, but the logic seems to be very sound when Ms. Gerson explains it, and while I don’t know that they would be all that

A friend of mine went raw a few months ago. She has experienced many health improvements, but most significantly, she threw away her glasses. Says as long as she stays raw, her eyes are perfect, and she actually notices the difference if she cheats. I think this happened about five or six months into being 100% raw for her. I think she looks 10 years younger, her skin just glows! (40's) On

Here is the most important raw foods study I know of: First, eat cooked vegan for 30-60 days, keeping a diary of how it works out for you. Record everything, energy levels, calories taken in, moods, mental clarity, anything you want to know about later. Even go in and have some medical tests done if that would help. (before/after) Then, do the same thing on a raw diet (for the same period

I would really love information about lupus also - a neighbor has it, and he is a young man who went to high school with my kids - just graduated. It has been a terrible and difficult journey for him, and he is such a nice and very smart kid, I would like nothing better than for him to find ways to deal with this devastating condition! I am not clear on exactly what diet he follows, his famil

Ha ha coco, don't worry about gymnastics - unless your kids get crazy competitive. My daughter was a very advanced gymnast for many years, until she quit at the age of 15 to became a coach. Then, almost two years later, she decided to show off to some of her students one of her old advanced tumbling lines - after not training at all for so long. She did the tumble perfectly, but landed badly

This is really interesting. I have never been a cyclist, but my daughter has an injury, and it was suggested as a good form of exercise for her by her doctor. The thing is, her doctor was hit by a car a few years ago while cycling, and it took him months to recover from his injuries - it was very severe. Not only that, but my son's soccer coach had a similar accident a couple of years ago, a

I wonder if anyone knows the answer to this question that has been bothering me... I don't know about the rules anywhere else, but here in Canada, if you are a bicyclist, you are supposed to share the road with the automobiles, and follow the rules of the road, same as the motorists. You are not supposed to use the sidewalk, that is for the pedestrians, and I am pretty sure that is the law he

It's funny, I don't really feel like raw food makes a huge difference in my mood, but my kids tell me completely otherwise. They tell me they can always tell when I have been eating cooked foods, because I get cranky (well, I think they might have used a slightly stronger word, haha!!) Interesting..... They might make fun of me sometimes, but they really want me to stick to it! (like
