I agree too! I spent part of an afternoon this weekend weeding at my community garden, and it's a wonderful meditation--- weeding is my favorite gardening task. (My glute muscles are really sore though.)

Reminds me of a friend who discovered a few years ago that I was now eating a raw food diet. Her response: "What an odd diet!" I honestly have never met anyone in my life who takes more OTC and prescription medicine than this friend. At her wedding she opened her purse at one point, and it was filled to bursting with bottles of pills and asthma inhalers.

Just saw a slideshow (Reuters) of the oil that's beginning to show up in Venice, Louisiana. There are simply no words to express my feelings about this-- it's just too much. I can't deal with it rationally. Someone pointed out that hurricane season in the Gulf is going to be... real interesting. The hurricane funnels will pick up the oil. Lightning may even ignite it. Tam-- you're absolut

Just watched 'The Visitor' last night on Comcast. Wonderful tear-jerker of a movie about the complexities and heart-rending results of America's crack-down on illegal aliens. (The illegals in this movie are an Arab and an African, not Mexican migrants.) Sub-plot involves a wonderful professor, a depressed widower, who comes out of his shell as he befriends the main character and his mother. Beaut

Hey guys! I'm the guilty party who posted the article Coco read on Facebook, so I'd better weight in here! ;-p My friend Erik on FB posted this, and I just took it and ran with it, so to speak. Later I read it again and decided I wasn't too concerned that they were going to target private gardeners. Here's what I'm doing about this: I've been growing food at a community garden for awhile now

1. If you have insulin resistance at all, you will want to limit really sweet fruits and dried fruits for now and concentrate on vegies first. Perhaps later your pancreas will have healed and you'll be able to deal with more fruit. 2. Concentrate more on weight-bearing exercise than aerobics for weight loss, as well as development of muscle tone (which will make you look and feel better)-- at le

>I love to craft just for pleasure and I fear that making a business of it would stress me out and rob me of the enjoyment< Coco, I know exactly that feeling! In my visual art, silk painting and beading endeavors I struggled with that for years and years. Only on occasion did I sell my stuff in galleries or at craft fairs. Recently, however, I've somehow managed to start enjoying making

Coco-- Where's the website (or websites, if plural) where you sell your stuff? I think you told me once, but I forget. I'm looking into Etsy-- I'm making tons of beadwork cuffs and chokers, and Etsy seems like the place for that kind of thing.

Hi everybody, It's been about a month since my dad's passing, and so much has happened. It's hard to put into words the positive things that have transpired since my dad's passing, but in some inexplicable but very tangible way he left me a very big 'inheritance,' not of money, but of wonderful spiritual blessings. In the couple of weeks after he passed, I felt his spirit near me almost daily,

I almost always eat avocado cut up into a salad with tomato and whatever else is at hand. I love them, because when they're ripe, you can add a squirt of lemon or vinegar and you don't need any oil at all-- just squish the avocado pieces around until it's all mooshed together. :-)

Happy Spring, everybody! It's almost 70 here in Cambridge (MA, not England), and it's not even noon yet. In fact, it's been warm for the past 3 days. I'm going out in a little while to play music outdoors in the Boston Public Garden again today-- yippeee!!

Update: My mom and I talk on the phone every other day. She was really doing well yesterday; I was so happy that she sounded strong and was also remembering all kinds of happy experiences with my dad. She has a wonderful network of friends around her, and my brother is there every day to help her, and most importantly, she's got her cat, Lady-- who adores her-- to keep her company. There was

>Now where would you play your music if you and Jonathan moved to Costa Rica??< Arrrgh! I hadn't thought about that till you mentioned it. */* I would really miss it. On the bright side though, the Jobim bossa novas that I love to play would probably be very popular in Costa Rica.

Hi lovely people, Just wanted to update: I've gotten such a beautiful outpouring of love and healing from all my wonderful friends that all sadness has left me. I am celebrating my Dad's life here in Massachusetts-- I always hated funerals anyway!!! -- and he and I are together in non-local reality, so everything is fine. I'll call my mom again tonight or tomorrow and check in on her. I'm

Hey friends!-- I'm feeling fine again and I'm 'over it.' Jonathan and I are celebrating my dad's passing with our own celebration; the hurt has dissolved. It was really, really helpful to 'vent' and work through my feelings, and I am so appreciative of all the loving friends whose love and healing energy are very tangible right now. Thank you! :-)

After a few years of slow decline with Alzheimer's, then a bout of pneumonia that led to a heart attack and stroke, and finally a coma, my dad died last night at around midnight. I didn't find out till this afternoon, but last night I distinctly 'felt' my dad saying goodbye to me. I wanted to spend this weekend remembering my dad and celebrating his life. Instead, I'm struggling with the fact

cy-- Hopefully---- hopefully!!-- I'll start tomorrow. My body seems to have a mind of its own, however, and doesn't always listen to me. ;-o When I do a long fast I try to do diluted juice, then graduate to juice, then fruit. Generally, the slower you transition back to solid food after a thorough water fast, the better. Writing about this just reminded me about Peace Pilgrim, who did a

When I want a 'milk shake' I just juice a ripe cantaloupe. It foams up and tastes almost exactly like a vanilla milkshake. I guess if I added a touch of vanilla it would really be fabulous.

Hi Lizard, Two thoughts come to my mind immediately. Splenda is chlorine-based and according to Dr. Mercola it's highly toxic. You might want to try to wean yourself off of it. Secondly, if you have Chrohn's and you are not on a very specific healing diet, that might easily explain the hair loss and nerves, etc. I would suggest getting in touch with Dave Klein, who healed himself of either Chroh

I know that Mona Dresbach is 100% raw too. Wish I was too, but I live in the northeast, and I'm a wimp. Sometimes I'm 100% raw, but I never make it through the whole winter without adding some cooked food into my diet in the evenings. I think I'd probably be correct in observing that most of the people who stay 100% raw live in relatively warm climates. (Another reason for me to move to Costa
