Hey Peisinoe: That's so funny what you say about that self-esteem thing. You should track down and read a book called "Happiness" by Will Ferguson. It is just hilareous. It's about how the world is run on people's low self esteem, and it's a fiction about a self help book that actually resolves everyone's low self worth. As a result, all of society collapses. All the cosmetic c

I know EXACTLY how you feel frumpy18!! If you start cooking anything for your family and you are hungry, it's a disaster waiting to happen - I've made this mistake many times. All those nice smells are nearly irresistable if you are hungry. So I have made a habit of mixing a smoothie for myself and sipping on it while I cook for everyone else. Then, by the time we all sit down, I'm not all

Since your lymphatic flow is so important, it makes sense to me that any too tight bra (or too tight anything around the armpit or shoulder) would not be very good for you. Ever since I had breast cancer I have been bra-less, I had a mastectomy, and the side where my breast used to be got treated with radiation, which made the skin very sensitive, so it was uncomfortable. But I went in for a

For my own family, it's not so bad to put a couple of raw things on the supper table and some that is not raw. I eat what I want to eat and the hubby and kids eat what they want to eat. I have not tried to raise my kids raw or vegetarian, but to simply let them know this is an option. My kids have gravitated towards mostly raw or at least vegetarian, but not all the time, and that's ok with me

I heard a good suggestion at a raw cooking class I attended last year. The lady teaching the class didn't like the teflex sheets either, so she made her raw crackers on nori sheets and just ate the whole thing when it was ready. I haven't tried it, but it sounded like the perfect solution to me.

In the town I used to live in, I used to go to the Cancer Agency office to attend support group meetings for breast cancer survivors. One thing that the breast cancer group had was a set of (soft plastic?) breasts with a couple of suspicious lumps in them. You could try to examine those breasts to see if you could find the lumps. It was very interesting - never would have realized just how har

It is so reassuring and comfortable to be able to blame the victim of every disease, and the biggest blamers are the people who have been diagnosed - anyone who has been through this knows exactly what I mean - you examine everything you have ever done to question what could have caused this - was it what you were eating, were there too much plastics in your environment, were you nutritionally im

Seven of my friends have been diagnosed with breast cancer in a five year period. Two have died, one is very close to the end of her life, and the rest are apparently healthy at this time. The first two of my friends were women I knew at the gym I used to belong to - both fitness instructors and personal trainers. One was a vegetarian, although I don't know if she was vegan, and I am sure she

Not sure if I see how this study "proves" the superiority of a raw food diet if it doesn't even mention raw food ratios. I would have liked to see that any diet including an increased amount of fruits and veggies made a difference, raw or not. (even if the participants weren't able to completely commit to the degree requested, any increase should have hopefully shown some effect.)

Hello RawForHealth: Hope you are feeling all right. I wanted to let you know about a product that was recommended to me by my homeopath when I was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago, I think it is a really good product: . You just put it in water or juice and drink it a few times a day. He had me drinking about double the recommended amount at first, but I now use about 12 drops

Bryan, you are so 'hilareous'! So, that would mean that cutting you up and totally mutilating your body, then injecting drugs into your veins that are so toxic that if they accidentally spill on your skin you will have to be treated for chemical burns, and finally, burning you to the point that your skin is permanently altered and discolored with that expensive radiation machine is NOT conside

Good question. When I was diagnosed, I was a 40 year old woman. According to the list of risk factors, I didn't have any. I had a dimple form on my breast (couldn't feel any lump), and the mammogram confirmed the problem - 3 cm tumor (HUGE!), deep nearly against my chest wall. But I think a mammogram is pretty low radiation compared to an MRI. Talk to your doctor about how often to g

Oh boy, this is a tough one for you! When I had breast cancer, they first removed the cancer, then decided that the other breast tissues around it were "potentially able to become cancerous - "in-situ", so decided that I needed ANOTHER surgery, to remove the entire breast (plus, in the process of cutting into me the first time, it couldn't be predicted whether the procedure itse

As a breast cancer survivor, I find this quite shocking: "Up to 1.4 million U.S. women — those with an unusually high risk of developing breast cancer — should get annual MRIs as well as mammograms, the American Cancer Society advises in new guidelines." article First of all, a mammogram gives you a big dose of radiation, but it seems to be a necessary evil. At least they

Aren't there THREE factors here? "A" - equals the virus(es) "B" - equals the functionality of the immune system (on or off?) "C" - equals the flu So: A is not equal to C (just because you are exposed, doesn't mean you will absolutely be infected), but B is also not equal to C (if your immune system is weak, but you don't get exposed, you are probably als

This is very interesting, perfect timing to have this discussion! My oldest daughter stopped by with such a bad flu a couple of weeks ago, and being the mom that I am, I couldn't resist putting her to bed at my place for a few hours and making her some soup and juices and so on and trying to let her get some rest. In the process, she infected me and her dad! We've been really sick for near

Here's a couple of videos you might want to look at. As for gaining muscle, I'm no expert, but I believe you have to increase your calories, and exercise. I don't know if there are specific foods you should consider, but The Fruitarian One looks pretty fantastic on just fruit and exercise, so I bet more fruit would be a good start. I LOVE the message that PCRM is sending out. (Raw, even better!) Nothing could be better than implementing these ideas into our schools, the kids would benefit so much. Except for one problem.... A lot of kids just don't want anyone to take away all their deep fried greasy choices. The parents' group at my school did this - took away all the really bad stuff, and replaced everything wit

llulu, your husband sounds so much like mine. I don't think he is unsupportive. Mine feels much the same way as yours. He is willing to do vegetarian some of the time, but wants his meat and potatoes some of the time. He would never in a million years criticize my choices, but he does not wish to follow the same program. If he is willing to respect me this much, I am very willing to do the s

It's okay to be a little bit tricky too. For instance, I try to never use the words raw, or vegetarian or vegan at all. I prefer to say fresh. Imagine - "would you like some of these fresh almonds?" "who feels like having some of this yummy home-made guacamole?" or even "who ate all those cut up fresh veggies I had in the fridge?" "I'm making a fruit s

Arugula - I am so very sorry to hear that you lost your mom when you were such a young woman yourself. What a hard thing that must have been for you. She must have been so proud to have such a smart and articulate daughter as you, so sad that your time together was cut short like that, I hope you have good health all your life, Sapphire

Well, here's what works for me: Support your husband's choices fully. Continue to encourage him to eat exactly how he wants to and minimize any conversation about your choices. If you have to put a big steak and potato on the table next to the salad, go ahead, and then only eat what you chose to eat - the salad. Don't make an issue about it. It will be hard at first, and seem like a lot of

Thank you so much for your positive thoughts and encouragement, La V, Bulldog, and anyone else who has ever sent those wonderful vibrations in my direction. You have no idea how enormously powerful that can be! During the most difficult times during my treatments, when I was so sick, and in my deepest state of despair, that was what kept me going. I would think about all the people who loved
