I don't know, but I have had two watermelons so far, or at least as much as I could stuff into my mouth before my kids ate it all out from under me, haha!!! It's still not quite sweet as I think it will be, but it's so irresistable!!! Wow, I could run back to the store right now and buy a bunch more, but they are still pretty pricey! Will just have to pace myself! I also had one of thos

Hi Beautifuldreamer15! There was a thread a long time ago with lots of people posting pictures of their food - if you are sick of salads, you might want to have a look at some of the amazing photos here - . I know this is old, but I found it so inspiring when I was looking for some new ideas. There is also an extensive recipe site you can go to for lots of great ideas - I love to browse th

I hadn't heard of hemp oil in itself being a cure, but I have heard of flax oil being very useful in the Budwig protocol I do not know if there is a raw version of the Budwig program that would be effective. It sounds like the components aren't really changable. There is some discussion about it in the second website, but I don't know how much it has been tried. It makes sense that t

She gave me a list of her daily food: 1 red pepper 1 apple 1 head cabbage 1 kiwi 1 banana 12 almonds 12 cashews 6 prunes, soaked 8 dried peaches, soaked 1 head romaine lettuce raw salad dressing 1/2 cucumber handful of shredded cabbage 2 mushrooms 1/4 sliced sweet potato 4 small tomatoes 1 apple (Much of this was made into smoothies) I really don't think this would provid

Oh well, it's not my job to convert her. I will just tell her this is working for me, and if she feels the need to add all that "protein" back into her diet, and if that works for her, then I support her fully. I think her biggest mistake is jumping on the scale every single day. What a bad habit. She doesn't seem to notice when the numbers go down, but she suffers such angst when

Thanks everyone. The funny thing about this is that since she has gone raw, she looks so much better in so many ways. Her skin just glows, and on the other diet, she lost a lot, very skinny, but her face looked gaunt and very stressed. She seemed aged, older than her true age. Today, she may be a little bigger, but she looks wonderful and relaxed, and years younger! I don't think she goe

This seems really odd to me. My friend was on an Atkins type diet for a long time, and along with a lot of weight resistance exercise and cardio every day (an hour or two daily), she lost a ton of weight. But she was inspired by my raw-ness, and wanted to try it. Well, it has been two months, and she phoned me this morning absolutely miserable. She has gained 17 lb, and has lost a lot of

My favorite movie for the past while was "Waitress" with Keri Russell. It's just so unique and makes you feel so good at the end. I wish Adrienne Shelley had not met such a tragic death, because she would have made so many wonderful movies. This one is a real treasure.

I came across this today, sounds like it has been around for a while, and there always seems to be so much negative news, I am thrilled when I find something positive that may be actually benefitting people. There is a School Fruit and Vegetable Program here in BC (maybe elsewhere as well...) If your kids school is signed up, they come and deliver fresh fruit or vegetable snacks a couple of t

I have misplaced my Green for Life book, so this is just from memory. Victoria Boutenko talks about that in the above book. She says that this is a symptom of depleted stomach acid, and is easily rectified. Including greens in your diet is supposed to be helpful, but you may need to supplement at first with hydrocloric (sp?) acid tablets from the health food store. I have never tried this,

I think Tim Van Orden is totally inspiring. I especially liked watching the video of his Sears Tower climb. Interesting to me, that the person who came in first place, was 22 years old, and that his morning, pre-race food was a nutrigrain bar and a SNICKERS bar!!!! Also that he planned to go out later for some pizza and beer. Meanwhile, Tim started the day with grapes and coconut

My husband and I took our kids on a holiday to Mexico over the Christmas holidays. This was the first time we have ever been able to go away someplace warm together for a holiday, what a wonderful time it was. I didn't manage to stay totally raw, or even vegan on the trip, but oh well, other priorities prevailed! However, when we got home, I got really ill for a couple of days. Didn't

Thanks to everyone who has helped me out with your posts. In all the stuff I have found on the internet, my understanding is that creatine is a specific combination of isolated amino acids that has this effect on increasing muscle mass when taken. I believe amino acids are the building blocks of protein. but instinctively, this seems wrong to me. It's like it is a fractured thing - taking ce

Yes, a friend made a comment to me the other day that it must be so very difficult to find seasonings to add to my raw food that is also raw. I tried to explain that the more raw I eat, the less I desire strong seasonings, but she just couldn't imagine that. So to her, I am so deprived, yet I don't feel deprived at all. What a wonderful thing to be able to enjoy a piece of food just the way

Are you getting enough calories? You can check that on line on fit-day or nutrition data, among others. It doesn't sound like you are getting enough - do you eat fruit also? I get disoriented when I don't eat enough, so maybe it's something like that.... a lot of people don't get enough calories when they first start out, you have to get used to eating a lot more than you did on cooked. Go

My 15 year old son is begging me to let him take creatine - he has started working out, and is becoming more muscular, but wants the faster, bigger results that he thinks he will get with creatine. I don't know what this stuff is, and the information I have found on the internet isn't really clear to me - some kind of amino acid combination, but can't seem to figure out how it is made or what

Ok, I know I said I was done putting up pictures of the puppy, but I found these last ones my daughter must have taken of herself and the puppy, and they are so adorable, I had to share. I can't believe how expressive - what a happy face! the: "I AM SO CUTE" face: The: "DID YOU HEAR THE ONE ABOUT THE CAT WHO WALKED INTO A BAR...." face" And, my favor

Hmmmmm........ When I was 40, I had my first mammogram. Yup, the very first time. And sure enough, the mammogram said I had breast cancer. But not only did I have breast cancer, they figured out that it was really bad - all through my breast and beyond. (lymph nodes and who knows where else...) So that's a good thing, right? I mean, really, it was important to know. But then they said

One of my kids asked me the other day to explain what irony means.... I wonder if this would qualify: My hubby went and bought himself a case of beer a few weeks ago, and the beer company was having some kind of promotion that entitled him to a big keg-sized beer mug as a reward for buying a case of their brand of beer. He would never use it, but since it was free, he brought it home.

Sadly, this will be my last pictures of the little puppy. We have realized that having this many pets is just too overwhelming for us all, and my daughter has announced that she plans to spend three months travelling. So, we have found a new home, a lovely family with three kids, a big fenced yard, and a mom who is home all the time to look after things. I know this is the best decision,

I suffered through indigestion through my entire first pregnancy and most of my second one. Pregnant indigestion is different I think. Towards the end of the second pregnancy I took an antacid, and the problem completely went away. I was so mad at myself for being too stubborn to try that in the first place, it was a lot of discomfort for nothing. So I would say it won't hurt to try it -

The other night my family was all sitting around the dinner table, and I was sipping on a green smoothie. We were talking about whether it might be possible for us to all plan a trip someplace warm this coming winter, and my husband mentioned Mexico. I started dreaming of how nice it would be to have all that fresh tropical fruit - not a great selection here in Canada that time of year, I would
