So am I gathering that most of "high raw" has to do with the social aspects of eating with others and is therefore somewhat determined by how often or to what extent you eat with others and desire to fit in with them? Granted, eating out is a challenge if you are 100%. You are destined to salad with dressing that you bring from home. For me, salads get really old! I guess I'm asking the

Any homepathic or other remedies for menstral pain? I hate having to take pain relievers, especially since being on the raw diet. It seems counterproductive, but I really can't function without them.

Prior to going raw I had to take melatonin to sleep for the last 5 years. Since going raw, I haven't taken anything to sleep except Chamomile tea one time. My problem lately ( as you know) has been getting enough energy. But I'm going to try and cut back on the fat again and see if that helps.

Since I'm just a newbie at raw (10 weeks), I'm still learning. I know a number of you on here consider yourself "high raw" while others aim at 100%. I'm still trying to figure out what is best for me and what will work for me. I am wondering a number of things.... 1. Why are you high raw and what exactly does that mean? Is it a deliberate choice that you are making or what you are

Pampam...I only soak my nuts if the recipe tells me to do so. I have been using many of Alissa Cohen's recipes...sometimes she says to soak and sometimes not. It is 2 weeks before my cycle, so I thought it was a little early. But ag 47...who knows. Things in that department are changing. Prism suggested that perhaps I'm eating too many nuts and I think perhaps that might be it. I'm going to back

I think we're about the same age. I make sure to get foods rich in calcium, but to be on the safe side, I also take a calcium / magnesium supplement. I don't really like taking supplements, but I think its better than the risks involved in not getting enough of what I need.

I am the only one raw in my family. I bought a 5 tray Excalibur and use it about once a week. I usually make a batch of flax seed crackers which uses 2 trays and maybe one other recipe. I need extra trays for flipping, so the 5 tray works fine. If you're going to be using it a lot, I would get the 9. Make sure you order teflex sheets too. They don't automatically come with the dehydrator.

Khale...sorry you're in pain. I pray you feel better soon! Just curious why you chose "7" as the number of weeks for this challenge???

Prism...I think you're right about the % of fat possibly being the culprit. I ordered several dishes to eat over the next couple of days. I think it was a binge of sorts...so as soon as they are gone, I'm going to back mostly fruit. I can't remember the ingredients, although they were listed on the menu. I ordered stuffed mushrooms (probably mostly nut stuff), New Mexico Nachos (seemed to have a

Rawdancer...Jodi is probably more able to guide you due to her experiences. But I was thinking maybe texture has something to do with it too. If you're able to drink water, can you handle juices, puddings or soups? Jodi, I want to ask you something. I've never had a "diagnosed" ED, but from what I've read I imageine I would have been diagnosed with EDNOS since I've long had an unheal

Good luck to you on your experiement. We will all enjoy hearing your results. I agree with Prism that the more simple the better. Fruit is especially easy and requires no preparation. About once a week I prepare something from a recipe. Here is my absolute favorite when the desire for meat kicks in. It is easy and so very tastey. My non-raw family loves it. Mock Salmon Pate 2 cups walnut

I don't think carrots will work in the blender, unless of course you can use grated carrots..that MIGHT work...but would be a LOT of arm work! I freeze my spinach and then use it in a smoothie. With a little water like sewraw said, it liquifies very easily. But carrots are way too dense.

In general, I hate politics and find that my voice has little affect, however I am thankful that as an American I have the freedom to have a voice and therefore will continue to resound it. I am a registered Republican and tend towards being very conservative.

I would also maybe consider some dried fruits in addition to nuts if you can find them without anything added to them...only dehydrated. They travel well and you don't have to worry about spoilage.

I had a great day today and was able to handle a lot of temptations. I went to a wedding reception that had catered in Mexican food. I ate before I went and didn't have anything to eat. Then my hubby took me to my favorite raw food restaurant and I got some take-out. I got enough for dinner tonight and tomorrow's lunch & dinner so I won't have to prepare anything. It was so good, but I couldn

Duh...I mean 9 oz a day...which would certainly be more manageable. Likeitornot, I looked at the links you provided...thanks! I was surprised that the raw diet was mostly chicken WITH the bone. I had always heard that dogs shouldn't have chicken bones. I really want to try this. My pooch is overweight in addition to the other things I mentioned.

My pup has recurring yeast infections in her ears. They have a foul odor and are sensitive to the touch. The vet prescribed some medicine plus an antibiotic that makes her really sick so I don't know which is worse...the ear thing or the meds! All of this happened before my own raw experience. She also has blood in her urine, although doesn't display any physical discomforts from that. So I was wo

Yes Prism, I got the book. I agree with the idea and tried it for a while, but found I was constantly crashing in the late afternoons no matter how much fruit I ate. I was constantly hungry and couldn't seem to stay raw. Since adding a little more fat, I've been able to stay 100% now for 10 days straight. I also think the energy issue is detox since being 100% raw. So for the time being, I think

Well, I just had my first cup of Rooibus tea, sweetened with a little agave. It was good and I think, as a non-tea drinker, I could actually acquire a taste for it. I will try the teechino as a treat sometime today. Thanks for the info on where to get a nut bag!

Good advice Jodi and I wholeheartedly agree. I have been a picky eater for most of my life...and only enjoyed pure junk. Just like people in different countries eat differently because that is what they're palates have been trained to like, you can re-train your tastebuds, but it does take a little time. Like Jodi said...start small.

Thanks Jodi...that would be a hoot wouldn't it! Today I've got really bad cravings again. So far I haven't caved. I'm feeling a bit like PMS and in the past, this is when I have had my most difficult time with foods...about 2 weeks worth of ravaging hunger. It's interesting because I don't have the physical discomforts I've had in the past, other than just an increased appetite and occasional
