Probably true, that's David Tennant (stage name) playing the fictional character Peter Vincent in the current remake of Fright Night. Tennant and our Pete have a resemblance, maybe including an inclination for "stage names".. who knows for sure? We know Pete likes to create characters. This is the comic/actor David Tennant --

If that's Pete Vincent according to rawhumour.com a Brit, then that might explain the not-quite-right accent and some of the Pythonesque humor. I like his "green" bike, the little red bike with nobby tires, maybe truly his for bombing around on snow. I wonder who he might have collaborated with.

In the public television broadcast Forever Young last year at the age of 95 Jack spoke of 80 years in the profession. As a skinny 15 year old he heard a lecture that got him into fitness and diet, building a gym in his backyard and drawing the local firefighters and police to come and work out. Imagine that, at that tender age. Here, 30-ish in what looks like Jack's Muscle Beach days --

Oh, I did notice that handlers of seal pups wear rubber gloves. Maybe that's the reason. I just learned we have laws here saying we're not to get within 150 feet of marine mammals. It's to help them get re-established after generations of nearly being wiped out. We're trying to learn here how to get along with seals. "Don't feed the seals" is another caution along with "

Here's one that was stranded and rescued, a grey seal about the same size and ability as the one I met. They're just weaned and barely able to haul themselves on land dragging their hind quarters along with just their undeveloped front legs. I think this little guy maybe just needs to be put back at the water's edge some place without major predators and on a descent day for fishing --

Thanks, it looked dead at first lying on the freezing cold beach pelted by windblown sand, except for regular breathing and shivering, seagulls looking longingly at possible dinner but not getting too close fearing becoming dinner. Here's another grey seal pup on a wind swept beach, this one on the British coastline, eyes opened at the photographer -- |+John&imgSize=70744&hostName

Early on a freezing, windy and sand swept beach a grey seal pup was fast asleep and shivering. It finally heard me going about my business but then went back to sleep, waking up now and then to see what I was doing. Later I sat down a few meters away, chatted a bit and then layed down as if to take a nap. He/she came to within a meter of me looking at me up and down especially curious of m

The YouTubes are nice because you can watch the pros crash in slow motion and really get a sense for their skill at it. The bump, step and role in the above rider/dog collision is impressive. In some cases the fabric they wear must be tough because they seem content to slide on like there's nothing to it. Fluid behind the eardrum is a legitimate diagnosis. Doctors can have a bad day. If one diagnosed "water" behind the eardrum without noting a punctured eardrum as the cause then I'd go to someone a little more knowledgable like an ear, nose and throat specialist. I eventually went to see my general practitioner who told me my ear canals were dirty. I had no idea they were. She a

It looks like the eustachian tube goes directly to the throat without any connection to the sinuses so I don't know how one would get water up into the middle ear... A sinus issue can put pressure on the tube though?

The ear drum forms a tight seal, so I gather that if there's fluid back there it would normally drain down the eustachian tube and ultimately to your throat -- An infection or allergy/mucus might restrict drainage? When I put my head under water I have trouble when inverted. Water rushes into my sinuses which causes discomfort and then takes a while to feel right again. I have to be

It's a partial disability, hearing loss, in the mean time as well, besides distracting and annoying to have a blocked up ear. "Water behind the ear drum" sounds like a doctor's best guess... "fluid" might have been more in keeping with medical jargon. My ear infection some years back was so debilitating and so poorly diagnosed I got a second opinion and was glad I did.

Sure, with a hard flat surface the technique changes. There's a choice between sliding causing severe road rash, and rolling possibly resulting in a broken collar bone or wrist. Like you say sometimes there's no time to react, or the bike or road gets in the way of your plans. My bike seat got tangled up in the back of my rain coat so I went tumbling with bike attached. In the "pretty girl" video she's probably fallen that way since an infant so it's become a reflex. Going over the handlebars you can be catapulted if you stay in the saddle. She slips down off the seat and slams through the steering post (lucky to be a girl) keeping low to the earth, arching her back and using her forearms as landing gear. Hope it's a once in a lifetime experience!

"While most will remember the race (2010 Tour de France) for Mark Renshaw's headbutt or Schleck's slip of the chain..." I always wondered how Andy Schleck's chain came off... There was a time when riders would slow down to let someone like that catch up so the race would not be decided by something so trivial, the two leaders in this case only something like 12 seconds apart. I'
