There's "Kidney" and "kidney". The former refers more to the hormonal system plus the physical kidneys, and doesn't really have any 100% parallel with western medical thinking.

He could have lived up to or even past 130 years if he did not smoke. I cannot disagree. And if my mum had wheels, she would've been a bus. My father collapsed one day, he was taken to the hospital, they did some tests, could not figure things out (but it was not heart or lung related), wanted to cut him open, he said no, he did not want that. Died a few days later. Cause not establi

Quotefresh That is a useless observational study. Cannot separate out factors like that and make those claims They are associations not causations Yup. There's tons of studies out there whose authors somehow convinced granters of money to investigate such foolishness. My dad smoked from childhood till death, and did not have any smoking related illnesses at all.

This bigger question: Is this also true for raw fruit juices? Raw carrot juice is an old remedy for cancer.

@Prana. Many thanks for the information. P.S. They say on SCD Probiotics that "We all have a digestive tract populated by a microbial ecology. We are not born with many intestinal ‘helpers’ or good bacteria. Instead, they must be introduced into our system via the food we eat and drink." As far as I know, this isn't correct. So, I looked it up. Here is one result: Whe

@Prana. I went to that website on SAM Type 4 etc. Well, apparently it isn't so easy to make the high-test EM drink: Next, if you choose to brew from the SAM Type 4 culture some of the a secondary product often known around the world as "activated EM", aka AEM, please be advised that, at least for subtle energy/ormus-like purposes, the stuff is next to useless, because, for these pu

I was also suggesting that you place yourself in his shoes, apparently you are not interested in doing so. are you always and at all times mature and composed? i know i am not. No, I am not always mature and composed. But if I were a professional, I would make every effort to be gracious to those who appear to be pulling my chain. However, I do not think that Douillard was deliberately do

When you are being formally interviewed as a representative of a certain way of life, it is your duty to come across well. This is not a private conversation between two persons that someone secretly recorded. I suspect that McDougall is lacking in nutrients that nourish the brain.

What to eat should be something that comes from within interacting with one's environment it should not be a subject of study absurd True enough, in theory. However, the reality is that we, or at least most of us, have lost touch with our natural environment and are living in grossly un-natural ones. What - you want city people to eat according to what they see every day, namely, concrete a

I think of the things that convince people that animal products are "right" for them is that they come from a malnourished and toxic diet. So they're coming from the very lowest possible standard, and then they see a Dietitian or something and start eating "grass-fed, free-range, organic, etc." animal products I read the stuff on Weston Price Foundation (as I read plenty o

QuoteRawPracticalist QuoteThe final time I visited my father in Hong Kong, he was in his 80s. He said to me, with downcast eyes and great sadness, “My life is hopeless. I am just sitting here waiting to die.” This image has haunted me for years—is there life after 80? Can there still be hope and meaning even in our advanced years? Will raw and living food lifestyle change this trend?

For example, someone with naturally low systemic levels of glutathione is at a major disadvantage compared to the average and therefore will be less able to handle toxicity because our bodies need glutathione in order to detoxify. Low glutathione may be associated with insufficient sulfur in the diet. I take MSM for that.

Many thanx for all that interesting info. What a ghastly way to find out about pulled pork (your sick friend's death). I read your comments of 2015, really detailed & informative. I really would like to try some jackfruit, now. Hope it is better smelling than durian. Dr. Nandi lists lots of benefits of jackfruit but mentions this as well: Jackfruit may inhibit sexual arousal, libido an

P.S. "Cook" is code for "food preparation". But a good cooked, plant diet is way better than meat & dairy. I know I can't do 100% raw but 75% suits me fine most of the time.

@jtprindl. Different experts say different things about humans' long-ago diet. In any event, every part of the world would have different food locally available and so not everyone would be eating the same thing world-wide. Who says everyone started out in Africa? That idea has been challenged, too. I think it's some kind of curse that we are genetically wired to eat what our ancestors ate

I saw an article today on Mercola's site entitled This Meat Substitute Now Cherished by Vegetarians and Vegans It's about jackfruit. According to our meatloving Mercola, it tastes like something known as pulled pork if you cook it for an hour. Well, I have been out of the meat loop for so long that I don't even know what it is, thankfully. Last time I encountered pig meat it was in t

Well, it sounds like you are in good health as regards cholesterol. Good for you, you must be doing something right. Have you had any other tests? Say, for Iodine and Vitamin D? In my books, anyway, those are the two biggies. I was tested for those and found to be somewhat low within normal range, depending on whose standards you go by.

From a survival standpoint, it's better to eat some flesh and drink some milk then it is to starve to death. But again, what's the relevance to optimal health? The relevance to optimal health is that, over a long period of time (several generations) certain populations will actually, to some degree, evolve according to that diet they were forced to consume as a matter of survival. Their childr

@Tai. Those are good comments re cancer. No cancer (or other lingering, serious illness) is ever purely physical. And no serious mental illness is ever purely psychological. Tell this to the MDs and their nasty forms of medicine, though... I hear that the carrot juice Dr. Gerson & his daughter had success with cancer patients, mind you.

Good to hear that there are bee rescue people. I had not known about this. When I was a wee child, 50 years ago, I heard an old man (who was visiting us) tell my father that it was a sin for him to kill his bees at the end of the season. This has stayed with me all my life.

Meat as medicine is just that - medicine. Not a forever way of eating. I would not avail myself of such "medicine" but we were not designed to take supplements either. Yet I suspect that a good number of rawfooders/vegans do take them in order to avoid McDougall's symptoms 30 years from now. I take a few and don't feel upset because it's "unnatural". There are some inte

McDougall doesn't look so good because his former life was bad with chain smoking and bad eating. I think he had a stroke in his 20s and would smoke 2-3 packs a day. He doesn't look physically bad at all, for his age. That is not what the complaints are about. It is his odd behavior toward Dr Douillard. It is an unfair world, where people are judged not by their learning or their knowle

I only just now saw your comments on teeth. This may be only slightly oversimplified: irrespective of diet, you inherit a tendency for either gum problems OR tooth decay. I see so much of this. Beautiful gums, nary a problem - but rotten teeth. And in my own family, no decay but unhealthy-looking gums. Meh. It is hard to be perfectly healthy nowadays, you know that.

Some fellow calling himself Mic the Vegan suggests on his video that the 25 day water fast is one of the things that did her in. I would tend to agree with him. Some tough birds, mostly from past eras, can fast like crazy and keep on going

The gut microbiota is an important contributor to human health. Vegetable/fruit juices provide polyphenols, oligosaccharides, fiber and nitrate (beet juice), which may induce a prebiotic-like effect. Juice-based diets are becoming popular. However, there is a lack of scientific evidence of their health benefits. It was our hypothesis that changes in the intestinal microbiota induced by a juice-ba
