Thanks, WY :-) I don't think she looks that bad. I don't think youthfulness comes down to just diet anyway. It's often exercise/inner spirit/specific features etc. I have a friend who looks matronly all the time. You can't really tell how young she really is until she smiles, LOL :-)

I know it's not raw, but in the UK, the standard cartons of tropicana orange juice (not the weird special editions, which do have flavourings, pectin etc) aren't from concentrate and are 100% juice (albeit pasteurised). I have been duped by 'natural flavourings' before! Makes my allergies flare up.

that is v. true, Lee_123! It's like fast food burgers (veggie or meat) - it's the idea of the burger - the combo of the tomato ketchup, onion, lettuce and mustard against bread and the burger- the combination of different tastes that people really miss. A lot of people can't stand eating a burger or a hotdog without ketchup. Imagine a pizza without oregano. Imagine any of it without salt!

I was under the impression that a lot of raw fooders wont wash their organically-grown veg to get B12 (if any) from the soil traces on there? So it's a game of potential B12 versus potential parasite? On the accidental eating of bugs issue, isn't there some urban legend that says that on average we accidently eat X amount of spiders during our sleep in our lifetime? A few months back a

Great quotes everyone :-) There was a Gandhi quote I liked but can't seem to find/remember. I stumbled across this one, that I also liked a lot: "There are many causes that I am prepared to die for but no causes that I am prepared to kill for."

I think the reverse is true for me! Bread and goopy foods like pasta tend to stick more to my teeth than salad-y type stuff, fruit, veg etc. If you don't already floss, it's worth doing. I'd rather floss my teeth than brush my teeth. But, most people don't floss correctly. You can book an appointment with your dentist/hygienist to ask them to show you how do it right. It's so effective!

I've never been 'into' black pepper that much but recently I had a salad topped with seeds with black pepper at my boyf. house. I didn't like them very much (very dry, burny, almost unpleasant taste) . Then a few days ago, whilst round his house again I had a massive craving for more of those seeds, a bit like a Coke or chocolate craving. Weird.

Good point, nik. Obviously it doesn't affect everyone like that, but taking any diet too seriously to the point where food becomes more important than enjoying life itself isn't a healthy approach, IMHO. I get worried about people who justify starving themself on raw by brainwashing themselves that because the raw food diet is healthy, that eating next to nothing is healthy as well. Maybe I'm

Hi Raw1228: it's the vitamin that vegans can only get from synthetic sources, apparently. there's a tonne of debate about it! LOL, EZ. Once I was in Cornwall and a seagull did the most gigantic poo that missed my face by about an inch! B12 or not, I would not have been amused ;-)

I'll have to try the garlic thing, phantom! Seriously, I would love to do some personal tests on this. B12 is such a fascinating subject, which I've been thinking about so much more- since going to great raw food sites- like this one :-) Maybe when cats and dogs roll around on the grass/dirt, perhaps it isn't just about their own/other animals scent? Cats/dogs eat raw meat, lick their

I was listening to the vegan freak podcast the other day, and they were raving about the immediate effects of this: (I don't think it was a blatant plug, they mentioned the downsides to it- i.e. it's expensive!) Apparently, you stick this patch behind your ear and wear it for 24 hours a day, and there's enough b12 to keep you going for a week. Now, if a synthetic patch works like t

I once left a bag of red onions in the cupboard that got infested and smelt so disgusting! There were these long larvae things wriggling in the red liquidy onion mess. Me and boyfriend had to clean it out, relocate the larvae in my garden and scrub everything down. Whenever I see a red onion, I always think of those larvae, hahaha :-)

Although cacao helped me get over my cola/sweet tooth cravings, the taste of it in my mouth makes me NOT want fresh food. I have previously spent a lot of money on 'raw' food- processed 'raw' cacao powder, processed 'raw' maca, goji berries that were picked who knows when etc. Now I'm poor (haha!), I wished I'd saved my money and just hunted down a durian somewhere instead, LOL! Hi Becky, Raw food mail order: Detox Your World: Fresh Network: Funky Raw: Sprouty Stuff: Also, for price comparison on other stuff like equipment etc, try searching on Google's product search engine: www.froogle.co.uk There's a health food chain in the UK (albeit a very small one!) called Food For Thought, who sell sprouting stuff, raw chocolate, pink himalayan salt etc.

I've been reading the rawfoodexplained.com site. This section on herbs is interesting. How many people here believe that herbs are harmful to the body? I see where the article is coming from, but can't see how a herb that can be eaten in abundance as a mono meal (I could eat a truckload of cilantro!) can be classified as harmful? Views appreciated, esp. from long time raw foodists!

My gums used to bleed when I brushed my teeth or flossed, but since I've been more careful, it's completely stopped. I also gently brush my gum area too. It makes them feel more resiliant.
