I forgot to ask something in the last post (that's another thing I'm hoping will improve... my memory!): Has anyone ever gained weight (who was already overweight) on a raw food diet? The reason I ask is that there are so many nuts, seeds, & avocadoes! I love all those foods, but if I'm going to be vegan on this, then I need to have avocadoes to make sure that I stay that way... at least

I soaked almonds the other day, as I read that makes them easier to digest. Thanks for passing along the Angela Stokes story. There's a news story posted on her on youtube, but it isn't nearly as detailed. Since this is my diary, chronicling my raw food & consequent health travels, I'm going to state my current weight, which I forgot to do in my initial post. I'm about 150 pounds &a

Wow, thank you to the last few posters! I'm really thankful for this forum & all the support! There're lots of kind folks here. That's some great stuff... I enjoyed the quote about NY to Cali & falling off in Kansas as well. Well, I think I'm detoxing after only two days (& even though I haven't been 100% raw; maybe 75%... I've also eaten that Amy's chili & an Amy's burrit

To dream earth & Maui Greg: That is so interesting! Thanks for sharing that info! Lots of food for thought (pun intended?) Lee123: You're totally right, & that's why I AM giving this a try. I feel myself detoxing already, after only two days! Thanks everyone!

I just ate 3/4ths of a can of Amy's Chili after eating all raw since 24 hours ago, & ew... I regret it. I feel so heavy now! It's just amazing. PamPam-- I think if I'm meant to have the equipment to make juices, one will drop in my lap. I have $0, & it's probably going to be that way for the next few months. My folks have already helped me out so much with school & gas to ge

That's true but, by the same token, then you experienced raw foodists could edit it as well. If there's misinformation in there, please do everyone a service by setting it right. Thanks!

Mislu- Your posts are great! I really enjoy your knowledge (both researched & empirical apparently), diplomacy on the issue, & philosophical wisdom. Thanks for sharing!

Guess I just feel like I'm supposed to jump in with both feet in order to detox from how lousy I've been feeling. To add to the list of ailments above, I'm having some sort of nether-region issues... I'm not sure if it's my bladder or my reproductive system, but I want to cleanse my insides properly in order to heal from whatever it may be. Thanks for your suggestions. I'll put some of them to

Thanks for your welcomes, positive feedback & encouragement. I'm needing that right now, & I'm sitting here wondering just how the heck I'm gonna do this. I don't have a juicer or a food processor or a dehydrator or even a shredder! My toddler & I live with my brother right now as we just moved here two months ago & I'm going to school (& lots of other stuff I won't go into

I sat in an enormous ancient redwood tree (to protect her from being harvested) for almost a year, & during that time, for lack of better explanation, I became a tree! My friend (the tree) & I manifested things together... it was truly amazing. I sat in other trees too, & noticed they all had their own "personalities" or, rather, energies. It was the most amazing, beautiful

Oh, I agree... but I wonder if it's a case of "too much of anything is never good" thing. Anyway, I'm going to try it out for a period of time & see what happens. Thanks for your response!

Have you read the criticism of raw foodism at the end of the article? I was wondering what you thought of it. I really want to get healthy, & I have a feeling that incorporating mostly raw food into my diet will help, but I want to be sure. Thanks!

Eating certain veggies raw... the ones I'm thinking of are eggplant & sweet potatoes or yams & cabbage. I can't imagine eating them raw. Can someone share a story of getting used to them out of necessity & even winding up enjoying them this way? Thank you!

How is it made? Do you do it yourself? If not, where do you get it from? Thanks!

I thought of another question: Do y'all make your own raw oils? If so, how do you go about it? (A true expeller-press is hella expensive!) If not, where do you get 'em from? Thanks!

I've noticed a lot of ppl use agave nectar in their recipes here. The site you directed me to doesn't say anything about that, so I'm assuming it's raw.

I've asked some of these in another post, but perhaps this is the more appropriate forum: -How does one make tea not using boiling water? -are organic salad dressings that you buy in the store raw? -is nutritional yeast considered raw? -are vitamins & supplements raw? -are organic spices that you buy in the store raw? I'll probably think of some more soon. I'm new to all this, alth

I know there's some controversy over whether to let cats live outdoors half the time. All I know is my cat & I used to live in a converted Greyhound in the woods. We'd go on hikes together in the fresh air. He used to catch & eat shrew moles, mice, rats, birds... & was a very happy fellow indeed! Since then, he's gone to live with my parents, who feed him food out of a can & k

I'm Wren, 31, single-momma, going for a second bachelors... this time in Wildlife & Fisheries. For at least twenty years, my two main vices have been compulsive overeating & dermatillomania (skinpicking). But in the last few years, it's been building to insanity... coinciding with that is the building intensity of lessons learned, changed desired. It's all coming to a head. So here
