Thats an idea. I don't have a dehydrator however. I have heard of people lightly heating things on a pan on the stove. There is the chance of cooking some of it, so one would have to be careful. Thanks for the suggestion!

I prefer the ones which are very dry, and the less sweet. The ones I don't like are the large moist ones, especially if they are pre-pitted. I think that introduces more chance of molding, bacteria etc...

Thank you for the link. However, the article seemed to initially advocate a raw vegetarian diet, but then started on fish, low fat dairy, beans etc... I am a bit confused about what its ultimately advocating. Maybe its trying to appeal to the masses to make some type of change thats more acceptible? Its interesting, I never knew what was considered an excess intake of protein. I must be over cons

I usually just buy mine at a local supplement place. The price is around $44 for a 16oz jar. I have seen some internet pages which had it a few dollars cheaper, but after shipping it was about even, or perhaps even more. Co-op pricing is usually the best, if you have one nearby.

I have been a picky eater, especially when I was a child. But, perhaps its a bit different. I prefered blander, more simple food, but it had to be premium quality. Does the raw humas recipe contain sprouts? I usually don't care for certain sprouts, especially not grain and lentils. But clover, mung beans are ok for me, along with alfalfa. But alot of people don't care for sprouts. There ar

2288. Re: dental
Hello Everyone, I thought I was the only one with questions like this. Standard denistry seems to think that once your teeth and gums go bad, there is little if anything to help them. About 6 weeks ago I made an emergency visit to the denist because of extreme tooth sensitivity, I also had noticed some small holes in 4 teeth. On one tooth the hole was actually pretty large. I have been doing

I've avoided shortening for years, I knew it was no good long before it got recent bad press. I think the worst about it is inaccurate labling, also some pretty messed up public perceptions about it. I have seen some ingredients labeled "vegetable fat"...what the heck is that supposed to be? In mentioning the infamous vegetable fat to someone in the Pacific Northwest, they said 'fat

Narz, Thats a great point, for awhile in my teenage years I ate only wheat, because of some scripture that said, "wheat for man". Looking back I see this as some small evidence that the faith was wrong. Its a small thing, seemingly innocent, because most people don't make much of it. But if your young and impressionable, you take things as stated. It is an important point, because many

Bryan, I am curious, what city did you move away from, and where did you move? I used to live in San Francisco, and as much as I love the city, I had to leave. It was too crowded, loud and not to mention expensive. I moved to a small town in the Pacific northwest. Its much cooler weatherwise, and I like the fact that there are fewer people, its also much quieter. When I first moved here, I used

El, Interesting, you mean sort of a waterfall, but it flows down the center, but also in a channel, kind of the concrete driveways on multilevel parking lots? I think it would also have the advantage of limiting evaporation and introduction of dust and other objects into the water, it was completely contained. Very interesting! Mislu

El, I'm not sure how much stream one would have to create. I got the idea from one of the clustered water advocates. It was claimed that clustered water was created by various forces created by the friction of water moving over rocks and sand etc... In nature streams and rivers often go for miles, sometimes thousands of miles. Its claimed that the processing of water usually destroys the cluster

Cherrymelon, Its difficult to know exactly how much minerals are present in any given food. These charts are based on averages, so variation occurs by season, by plant, and location etc... I also have heard that many of the nutritional charts are also outdated! some claim that vitamin and mineral concentrations are way, way down from what they used to be in the 40's and 50's when some of these c

El, I was going to ask about the purity of snow as well. How did you know you collected snow from a pristine area? I am not sure there are many areas on earth left that are truely pristine. Some maybe much better than other areas, but pollution is just so global, especially what can be carried in air and water. Have you done any experiments with running water over quartz or perhaps some other

Ian, Yes, I had a bit of an over reaction. Honestly i agree with you that autism doesn't sound positive, but then I said hey, dyslexia doesn't sound positive to people either. I think there is a general problem with people having an idealic picture of the perfect person, and if someone doesn't fit that, then your just 'f***ed'. Perhaps its just me projecting, I tend to do that. Taking respon

Sodoffsocks,Ian, I was diagnosed with dyslexia as a child. I believe it was a misdiagnosis. But I learned first hand how a lable really can have damaging effects on a person. I was placed in a special ED class during english period with people with down's syndrome, Cretism, Turner's syndrome and other learning disabilites. If these other children didn't have any of these conditions, it really

Ethan, Thank you for the reply back. Maybe more hare krishnas will realize the value of raw food in the future. I didn't mention that the woman at the temple was extremely overweight, and looked very unhealthy. I thought that maybe she acquired diabetes from the years of eating processed sugar. She didn't seem particularly happy either, her religion seemed more like burden, like carrying around

David, Thats interesting, your fruit only. Is it one where you also eat only the flesh of fruit, and no seeds of the fruit? That would be interesting. Do you have photos online? Yes, I have a difficult time picturing a protein deficient american. In general americans have overconsumption of everything foodwise. But also overconsumption of non-food items. I believe people are afraid of prot

Essiser, I visited a Krishna temple in Berkley, CA. They seemed way into vegetarian food, as they had a free buffet for visitors. It seemed like everything was boiled or baked so as to make everything lifeless and tasteless. They also had a large number of very sugary sweet pastry and cookie like things. The temple manager said they were made at 4am, as that was good luck or something to bake a

Shep252, Thats great, I would be interested in reading about european potatoes. Yeah, I found that raw potatoes are awful tasting to me, and I suppose harder to digest given that it made me feel sick. If eating some steamed potatoes keep you warm, happy and healthy, I support you. By the way, you have a cute sort of magical look about you.

Arugula, Unfortunately, I had some bits of anemic chicken in a salad this evening. I think the salad would have tasted better without them. I will have to try green salads only when I go out, see if that makes any difference. The production of animal products could be greatly improved thats for sure. Maybe its better if one doesn't eat them. I do find the people who eat alot of meat usually don'

Bryan, What do you think about the Asian ideals of eating quickly cooked food in a wok? I took a class in Traditional Chinese Medicine and the instructor was quite clear that raw foodism was a fad and ultimately unhealthy in the long term. There is also the ideal of getting the 5 flavors, sweet, sour, salty, bitter and pungent. I can see that a raw food diet would be easy to get sweet, sour, bit
