Thanks Rob. Sent an mail to admin as you suggested. We'll see.... If I don't get a response I'm just gonna let it go. Lots more important things to spend time and energy on methinks. ~lanie

Hi! I'm new to the forum, though have been perusing your wonderfully informative (not to mention entertaining) dialogues for several months now. WOW...you guys are awesome!! Have yet to see such camaraderie and genuine concern for one another anywhere else on the Net. Real sense of community. Just lovely. That said, here's my INCREDIBLY anal question: I registered under the username &qu

These are the best olives I've ever tasted...EVER!!! Really reasonably priced too, especially if you buy a few jars at a time. They also carry unsalted, which I've never tasted. ~lanie

Sounds tastey but honey isn't raw, no matter what the container says. I prefer agave nectar, which supposedly isn't raw either but I use it anyway. ~lanie

What about eggplant? I actually like it raw, especially the small thai ones. Seem to remember reading somewhere that they're actually toxic this way though and it's better to cook them. Also potatoes supposedly less toxic when cooked, no? ~lanie

They've got the best truly raw olive oil I've ever tasted. And their raw almond butter's to die for. Great prices and fast shipping too...usually in about two days, though I'm local. Jgunn: Thanks for the cartoon. Really cute. ~lanie

Thanks for the great advice Arugula. I actually don't even bother cooking oat bran as it seems to turn out just as good when mixed with boiled water. Have stirred in ground flaxseed as well which adds a nice nutty flavor, not to mention nutrition. ~lanie

Anything that artificially alters my mind and feelings just isn't good for me. Even the small amount of alcohol in Kombucha has that effect, which is why I try to stay away from it. I get a much better high from after-exercise endorphins and raw clean food. Also no side effects...just more mental clarity and peace. ~lanie

Good point Arugula. I actually do sprout organic whole oat groats all the time, which I just love. The reason I'm interested in oat bran is it was recommended by my nutritionist (who's a 30-year vegan veteran, by the way, and recently joined "our" raw ranks) for digestive issues I've been having. ~lanie

Thanks for the response Tamukha. I wonder if that includes oat bran sold in the bulk foods section of Whole Foods, which doesn't seem to be in the same class as conventional flour products. Hard to know since the label is so rudimentary. ~lanie

I know that oatmeal isn't considered raw because of how it's processed but what about oat bran? Is it raw? Thanks! ~lanie

Ha ha iLIVE...very cute. I have to agree with you and Tamukha here. While there's certainly no disputing his wealth of knowledge, he does go a bit overboard on the generalizations and gloom and doom I'd say. Still enjoyed the interesting info though...much of it quite valid.

I LOVE fresh raw fennel...chopped up in salads, as a salad, or just as is. No accounting for taste I guess is there? If you don't care for licorice though this one's definitely not for you. ~lanie

These are the best organic raw olives I have EVER tasted...bar none!! I've actually binged on them, no kidding. Their olive oil is incredible too. Not cold-pressed like all the others I've seen, so it's truly raw. ~lanie

Have you tried Bikram yoga, a.k.a., hot yoga? I've been practicing for over a decade, starting with basic Hatha and then moving through the various methods before settling on Ashtanga mostly (which I LOVE). Began Bikram about five years ago and, comparatively speaking, it's had the most effect on my flexibility. Really cleans out your toxins too from all the sweating, which is great for your s

These guys make the most amazing organic raw almond butter I've ever tasted (from truly NON-pasteurized almonds): Their sundried oil cured black olives are to die for as well. ~lanie

I get that the point was to debunk wrestling as a spectator sport, but definitely agree with Coco on this. I felt bad for them too, especially the wrestler. Not very nice on the part of Stossel's team and far from funny. To me at least. Really disturbed me for some reason. And I have a great sense of humor. Oh well. Different strokes for different folks I guess. ~lanie

There's a lot of info out there on the master cleanse...some of it good, some of it not good at all. You could always give it a try to find out for yourself, though I suggest googling it first to see how you feel about the pros and cons. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it. After much research (including doing the cleanse EXACTLY as is several times) I decided it wasn't for me. Here's som

> i always eat my fruit first. > patty Well that would make sense. Come to think of it, I've heard that before. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for the reminder Patty. I actually do use apples to sweeten up my green smoothies but they don't seem to bother me like other fruits. Hmmm...wonder why. ~lanie

Isn't mixing fruit with other raw foods in the same meal supposed to be bad for digestion? I've always read that it's a good idea to wait a couple of hours before having fruit for dessert...something about the fruit digesting faster and then sitting on top of your still undigested meal fermenting. Personally my stomach gets a little upset when I grab a handful of grapes or something right a

Buckwheat and oat groats are two entirely different grains. I found this great raw cereal at the local whole foods though made of sprouted buckwheat groats, flaxseed and raisins. Not much flaxseed so pretty low in fat. It's from Go Raw which has a lot of great stuff. You can check them out online. ~lanie

Sprouted oat groats and flaxseeed or almond milk works for me...rye and wheat are also way tasty and nutritious. Really, really easy to sprout...honest it is. I thought it was gonna be a major hassle so never wanted to either...until I tried it a few times myself. Now I'm hooked!! Fresh vital seeds and grains sprout super fast too. A day and a half and they're good to go. These guys

I do bikram yoga five mornings a week (studio's a 10-minute walk from home). The other two days it's a half hour or so of various yoga poses when I wake up, starting with prana yama breathing. Then later in the day I usually walk 30 to 45 minutes across town which, believe me, is a heck of a workout in with all the steep inclines around here (San Francisco). ~lanie

I've done the apple fast three times in the last the six months and just can't say enough good things about it. REALLY powerful!! The first time I must have slept at least 14 hours a day as my body was detoxing from years of drinking yerba mate, which, despite all the claims to the contrary, has TONS of caffiene. During the second and third I had a lot more energy and felt progressively better

I agree with arugula. Much rather eat the fresh fruits and veggies that your food bars and shakes are merely extractions of. Also seems like a heck of a lot of protein for one person in a day, athlete or otherwise. Just my opinion of course. ~lanie

Here's some healthful facts about chia and amaranth: Chia seeds are the richest source of omega-3 fatty acid. Also very rich in protein which in turn is high in amino acids. Rich in lysine and a very good source of fiber. The Aztecs used it in combination with corn which is low in lysine to make a complete food. Also very high in iron and calcium too. Chia is so rich in anti-oxidants that the

I know they're expensive but if your budget allows, Vitamix is a great investment...grinds everything to a pulp, individually or combined. I make both flax and almond milk all the time, along with green smoothies and the like. ~lanie

You can get truly raw, UNpasteurized, almonds from this company. Lots of other great stuff too. And their nut butters are to die for, especially the raw almond. Never knew olive oil could taste so good either...unheated, unfiltered AND unpressed. I've also become seriously addicted to their sundried oil cured black olives. Simply incredible. Just LOVE these guys (can you tell?). ~lani

I include avocados in many of my smoothies, which adds a lovely creamy texture...not to mention subtle taste. Can't argue with the health benefits as far as natural oils go if you ask me. Sometimes I throw in a small handful of organic oil cured black olives for a fattier feel and slight salty kick. ~lanie
