Phylis, There are many wonderful ideas and thoughts shared here already. But I want to add just two more little thoughts that I hope might help your perspective: 1) You are losing the identity you have created and lived in for a long time. There is ALWAYS fear in that (take it from me), no matter what the circumstances surrounding the change and loss of identity. You are changing on ever

That's wonderful news - I'm very happy for you! Sorry about that other board - sounds like a place where people go to wallow in their shared misery. I don't think that's the kind of person you are.

The Elephant Art project in Asia is a program designed to support elephant rescue projects. It's a compromise, but the elephants involved are living better lives than if they were hunted for ivory or starved to beg money on the streets. Ideals are wonderful, let's work for them - but remember a little practical effort that saves lives and also manages to keep the elephants amused isn't such a b

In my experience, muscle testing is very useful, if done properly by a practitioner who can leave their own opinions/preconceptions/assumptions out of it. How the question is asked, and the intent of the asker, have an impact. I've had it done cluelessly, with results that neither harmed nor helped me, and I've had it done well, yielding very beneficial results. Currently I see a practitio

Cucumbers are considered diuretic as well as blood purifying. That might actually have an effect on her skin - she's flushing her kidneys, aiding her detox. Cucumbers on the eyes theoretically reduce eye puffiness because of the diuretic effect.

I did a liver detox a few months ago - relied heavily on herbs and a fairly limited diet for several weeks - not entirely raw, because I was following Ayurvedic advice at the time. Herbs used were goldenseal, echinacea, turmeric, milk thistle, & dandelion - also aloe juice two to three times daily. Goldenseal & echinacea, being very antibiotic, shouldn't be used longer than a few days t

Hey, all. Thanks for the comments. Good to know I'm not a complete freak. I don't find all cooked food nauseating (in response to one of the replies), but it's just so strange to have my sense of things change so suddenly. Things that I liked the smell of not so long ago are just 'ick' now. Glad I'm not alone. Yes, I still am 'cooked'. No, the smell of cookies doesn't bother me (love

I don't think anything in there was 'sanctimonious', peter b. If it was, I'll gladly look at it, but since you don't know the slightest thing about me, it's probably safer to assume you're just looking to get attention by insulting a stranger on a message board. OK - everyone look at peter now. OK, I'm done looking at peter. Back to my original point. I was just wondering if this

Is it just me, or is the sight & smell of SAD nauseating after eating (mostly) raw for a while? I've been vegetarian for 20 years, and I maintained a certain amount of tolerance for SAD (it was emotionally unpleasant to experience the sight of meat, but I held the person in my heart and learned to release judgment), but lately, after increasing the raw in my diet (approx 80% overall), I

OK. Got it. Thanks. Doesn't quite meets standards. Check. I'm keeping mine - they're my 'hits the spot' emergency snack those days when I just can't get away from my desk, just GOTTA eat, and don't have a shot at something fresh. Beats the heck out of anything else nearby.

I feel so fortunate. I have yet to have anyone say anything negative about my increasingly raw diet. I do, however, have people comment (negatively) on my thinness - but that was happening before the rawness (I dropped 3 sizes last year, in a short amount of time - the result of a lot of Bikram Yoga and a load of stress). My boss calls me 'Skinny Minnie', which bothers me more than it shou
