She is a SAD eater but does incorporate fruits and vegetables into her diet. She eats relatively small amounts of food at a time. I will have to check with her and ask her how she feels about her stress level.

I am starting to think I need add some more omega 3 efa's to my diet...(I like eating flax, but it's not something I do every day) The easiest way for me is something I can throw in my smoothies... What does everyone here suggest/use? Also, does anyone know the difference between long chain and short chain efas? Are there any VEGAN sources of long chain efas?? Plankton or anything?

I JUST got my Vitamix today. I've heard so much about how delcious green smoothies are. Well, I tried two different recipes and I have to say...eh. I didn't HATE them, but I wouldn't call it tasty in a classic way either. Did they grow on anyone? Is it more a matter of finding the right recipe or honing in on your 'green tooth' over time? Also, I found that I had to use more fruit than I an

Are you near Albany NY by any off chance? I ask because I went to college up there and I remember a Price Chopper and a Super Walmart. If this is the case, there is a co-op with lots of health food and org produce called Honest Weight Food Coop..google it!! They also have Hannafords in the area with a better selection than the p-chop. Even if you arent near Albany, check around and see if t

May I ask what you have been eating recently instead of fruit? Did anything specific cause the edema or do you believe it was caused by your diet?

i am in the same boat that you are, anuiyer! i've had luck so far with several things: 1) i juice all morning...i try to stay away from solid food as long as i can without feeling deprived..then when my body want to eat i move on to fruit...and finally 'heavier' foods later on...at least for me, giving my body a longer break from digestion by delaying solid food until afternoon has been hel

one word for you: LIBRARY!!!! you'd be surprised how many raw books your local library has...for FREEEE...it's soooo exciting to go in there and have a field day! just ask at the circulation desk, and they will either locate them for you, or put them on hold for you if someone else has them out. read up, decide which one (or two or three) you want to buy, and go from there!

if you are vehemently oppossed to seeing a western medical doctor..or would like a second opinion if s/he tells you to stop eating raw, you could consider a naturopathic doctor or natural practitioner. if you have regular access to a computer (i am assuming you do as you are on the message boards) you could research online to find a reputable one in your area. don't get yourself worried in

I am 24...JUST going raw...and I like to party. By that, I mean I sometimes enjoy my occasional weekend out. I don't drink often. Many times I go months without drinking at all..otherwise I might have two or three nights of drinking a month...and when I do drink I never have more than three drinks or so. I'm sure that many will say for optimal health, abstaining is best...but I'm not ready

I've been experiencing all kinds of interesting symptoms lately that I can really only chalk up to detox during this dramatic transition for my body. The funny thing is, I welcome them in all their unpleasantness...because it is just so GRATIFYING to know what is really being accomplished when I experience these things. What were some of your experiences when first switching to raw? I'm sure t

Thanks so much to all of you for writing back!! I'm starting to learn that doing this raw thing really doesn't need to cost an arm and a leg..and that there isn't as much of a need as i thought to buy a bunch of 'gear.'

I transitioned from vegan to raw last week...starting this week I've been eating completely/almost completely raw..and by now I am BURSTING with questions..any opinions and anyone's two cents would be much appreciated: NUTS: is it healthy/considered raw to eat nuts and seeds that are uncooked but not sprouted..or do you really need to sprout/germinate them to unlock their life force energy?
