I usually freeze them at least 8 hrs but I'm sure 6 would be sufficient. Also I've had no problem with leaving them in the freezer for a few days so you can always put the ripe ones in the freezer if you can't finish them all (of course I know that's a long shot with raw foodists!)

I was trying the 80-10-10 approach and realized the other day that I'm getting too thin! I started at 105 (I'm 5'2" and lost 16-17 lbs in a month, now I'm at 88/89lbs which I think is too small, I look really boney and I don't really like it! I wasn't in it to lose weight to begin with! I do yoga 4-5 times a week and sometimes commute by cycling.

I just made this up, but it's so delicious I thought that I'd share! It goes well over zucchini noodles (I use a vegetable peeler), or just vegetables! Measurements are approximate - adjust to your taste! 2 Ripe vine tomatoes (I used one yellow and one red) 10 Sun-dried Tomatoes (soaked: warm water: 1-2 hours, room temp/cold water 3-4 hrs) 1 small red bell pepper 2 Fresh young garlic shoot

Greens can be any greens: kale, spinach, chard, collards, lambsquarters, dandelion, arugula, parsley etc. How much depends on the person and the size of the bunch, generally I'll put in an entire bunch of greens but sometimes if the bunch is too large I'll use 1/2. Some people only use a handful (say 5-6 large leaves). And then you can blend it with fruit - you use as much fruit as you need to

The other website is called Nutridiary (www.nutridiary.com). They are both good, I like nutridiary just because I got used to using that one first! It's great to monitor your food intake sometimes, I don't do it everyday but every once in a while I'll check up to see how I'm doing. Also I don't use the downloaded version, the free online one works just fine for me!

I'm from Canada and realize this will be affecting me, but is it still my place to write a letter? I feel this is an important issue as almonds are one of the few nuts I still enjoy (although even then I eat very few) and want to have the choice of raw nuts. Reading all these things about the FDA and food governing in the states is kind of frustrating because Canada is only right next door...

Personally I wouldn't waste my money on conditioner, of course this is just my opinion but I find especially when eating raw food my hair stays nice and soft and shiny on it's own, and I hardly even need to wash it! - If I lived in the country I don't think I'd need to. Also conditioners really don't do much for your hair, it's just extra product that could build-up and/or react to your skin. B

I do own a vitamix which does get the green smoothies completely smooth, however I always "chew" them or move them about lots of times in my mouth. A firm believer in saliva! haha, still I don't drink them that often - I prefer whole foods recently, which is funny because not too long ago I really loved blended food, go figure... Anyway I'm sure you're blender is fine unless you really

I have "Green for Life" and I've went and listened to her talk. I think she has some good ideas, but I'm not sure about all the "facts" she presents and certain ideas she has about what chimps diets are like compared to us. I know at the talk (last year) she specifically said that chimps don't eat meat - which I know is false, the males of the group will occasionally hunt, i

Simple raw food can be very fast as everyone so far has suggested. Nothing's faster than rinsing off fresh vegetables and fruit and then consuming them! Good luck, stay positive!

Thanks everyone, it's interesting that you say rotating food is important because I haven't had oranges whole in months, the juice is fine. Still I am just going to use the advice of David Z. Mason and my body to stay away from them for a while! I listen to my body but I was just seeing if it was something in the oranges or just me! And it is just me so that's awesome!

So I had two small blood oranges yesterday - they were ripe, smelled & tasted delicious but made the sides of my mouth, and the edges of my lips burn. I tried again today with a tangelo and the exact same thing happened! Only this time I ate another blood orange even though the tangelo hurt and my mouth (I was pretty hungry...) but I couldn't take it anymore. Afterwards my tongue feels k

wow that sure does sound awesome! I don't know if it would entirely break my mono-eating, I generally only do it in the day, in the evening I always have greens + something. The variety of fruit you can get is awesome! Right now I'm a little bit limited, I tried some atauflo mangos but I can't find any good ones here (Canada) they were smell-less and didn't taste as nice as ones I've had befor

Mia - the low fat will come, don't stress over it! I never thought I'd feel so good on such a low amount of fat but I do, and with no craving for it at all (although it is only day 7). Forrest - That's a neat salad idea, I never thought to put on a smoothie like a dressing. Maybe I'll try it soon! Also I'm working towards eating more fruit in the day, I know that once I'm exercising more (rig

It's my 6th day of low-fat high-fruit whole foods raw diet, and I realize this isn't very long but I just wanted to say how good things are going! I don't have any cravings for cooked food, even when I'm the one preparing the cooked food (all vegan). All my food is organic. All I ever want are bananas but I've been doing greens in the evening. The only fat I've had so far was about 1 TBSP of

I know raw butters can be made from soaked nuts and seeds, however I'm not sure about after they've been dehydrated. I've never tried it but I have read that it makes more almond flour than almond butter - mind you, I'm sure you could add some raw oil to get the consistency.

Thanks for all the comments; based on my own mentality, research and viewing of other comments, I think I'll test out the MC first because I'm mentally there and it's the most important part for me. Also just out of curiosity how long would one stay on the mono-fruit diet, would it be like the MC, until one's tongue is clean? I love bananas and could easily do all bananas and/or apples (I lov

Hey everyone, I wanted to try out raw foods again and just wanted to know what everyone thought about starting with the Master Cleanse. I was thinking of trying it (for the first time ever) for 10 days and then eating all raw food from there on. Right now my diet is around 70% raw and all vegan mostly fruit/vegetables with the occasional bit of brown rice and vegan gluten-free treat (very

I've been curious about ACV as well. Recently (for the past few months) I've been drinking ~1 Tbsp with ~ 1 1/2 C of water about 15-20 minutes before I eat. I've found that it makes digestion much better! I don't ever get bloated or eat too much at once, also I think it really helps my skin. Of course I'm not sure how great this is for my teeth but so far I haven't noticed anything negative,
