thank you both for responding. i am looking at this as a journey and like any i guess there will be detours along the way. however, i think this is more psychological than just a "cheat" - it may be that i was avoiding success, or feeling optimum health for underlying reasons. maybe that i wasn't feeling worthy of having optimum health so i punished myself with foods that make me feel s

2. help!
Hi guys, I posted about 2 weeks ago that I was starting my journey with Raw Foods...these 2 weeks have been absolutely eye opening and clarifying and lovely and beautiful for me. However, over the weekend I was in a new social situation and I hadn't prepared for it, so I ended up eating a cooked dinner. One meal, fine, but then the next day, it spiraled into a whole day of meat and junk food, a

Oh- one more question...how do you know if you're free of mucus? Is it just by virtue of the fact that you've gone raw? Or is there a certain amount of time on raw that passes and then you're mucus free? Or, is everyone different?

My boyfriend agreed to do this as well! Perfect timing. I've been making him dinner and he's been doing great. What kinds of foods does your husband like? If he likes gazpacho, I'd make him a watermelon/cucumber gazpacho with sesame seeds and avocado, maybe put it in a thermos. Also, instead of tomato/mozzarella/basil...you can do tomato/avocado/cucumber/basil. Hope this helps! Let me know what

Thank you for sharing this. I'm interested in this topic, could you recommend any further reading on this process of the body ridding itself of toxins? I'm a singer, so this particular facet of raw foods really attracts me...keeping my sinsues/throat/vocal chords clear and mucus free. Thanks!

Thanks guys. I live in NYC. I'd love to learn more about the bitters and healing hormone imbalances in women naturally. Can anyone recommend any good reading on the topic? I think I will stay away a bit from the wheat grass until I adjust a bit!! Thanks again.

9. Mucus
Could you guys please explain what it means when people refer to a mucus buildup in your body? Is that something that we can feel, like in our throats/noses/sinuses? Or, is it meant to refer to a buildup of mucus in organs/blood etc...I'm confused! How do you know when you've cleansed yourself of the mucus?

Thank you very much to you both for responding. This message board is so helpful! Coco, I have actually never had wheatgrass before. I didn't know it was a neauseant! That is very interesting because I went to the health food store, got that juice, and then within the hour is when I felt the discomfort start. Then about a half hour later, I vomited. Is that a typical reaction for someone who isn'

And one more update...not to be too graphic (sorry!!) but I just vomited up everything I've eaten today. I had a plum, a spinach/kale/wheatgrass/apple juice, a sprout and red pepper salad with some olive oil and lemon juice, 1/2 avocado, and a pear. Please help!!! Is this normal? Thank you in advance.

I need some advice. It's my 4th day raw. I am a 30 year old woman. About a month ago, my boyfriend and I had two condoms break and I took the Plan B pill to hopefully prevent pregnancy. I have not gotten a period since September because of hormonal imbalances, which is why I have chosen to start a raw foods diet and try to heal my body the natural way. So anyway, it's the 4th day and I am so so n

One last thing!! I also feel that even while emotionally stable and happy and healthy on the SAD diet...certain things like sugar really affected my mood, causing slumps in my day, triggering cravings, etc....so I think there is a definite comfort element to the SAD diet

Thanks David. Yes, I completely agree with you. I should have added a bit about my history with eating disorders. I struggled through my senior year of college...bingeing, then restricting, bingeing, then restricting...etc. I finally entered into therapy and worked out the issues of control and fear of growing up into an adult...or at least explored them and recognized them. For the past 2 years,

thanks guys for the advice. can anyone suggest some yummy salad dressings that are 1) not too creamy (i dont really like creamy-like substances) and 2) are easy to prepare (don't require a blender? Thanks!

It's enlightened me since going raw, how much of my eating was really only for comfort. And how much of my restricting was really only for comfort. On raw, I feel like I'm nourishing myself. Why do all my friends see it as punishing myself? I feel free on raw foods, and healthy, clear, kind, energetic, open, and loving. Even while eating a SAD diet, I felt those things - this is true - but at the

Hi everyone. So good to find this community. I'm on my 6th day raw. I was raw for about 6 months a while ago, and I'm trying again to make it my way of life. One thing about the raw diet that's always confused me is oil. There are so may conflicting reports about whether it's technically raw or not. One of my primary goals (besides improved health and mental clarity, of course!) is weight loss. E
