I think you're right, eating pure fruits isn't right for everyone and can be quite unbalancing. Most people need a large amount of the dark leafy greens to keep them healthy. It's best to experiement and see how your body reacts to it.

Going back to dead foods after experiencing going raw happens to the most of us. I believe it's because of the outside pressures. With dead foods all around you, everybody eating it, there's no escaping it. Plus your body and brain goes back into memory mode and craves what's it's used to for most of it's life. So don't be hard on yourself, just pick yourself up and start all over again.

Hi Typres87 It is interesting you say that you want to lose weight because that is exactly what the raw food diet does for you. You won't need to count calories and watch your fats and all that nonsense. On a raw food diet the body detoxes and the fat just melts away, trust me. That is the experience of all people on a raw food diet, just go for it and within a month you will have lost qu

Trying to get your children to eat raw can be difficult but you can start with making loads of fruit smoothies for them. They will love it! (Throw a small amount of greens in with the fruits and they will never notice). Make sure to stock masses amounts of fruits in the house for them to stack on. That way their cravings for sweets and crisps will start to go away. Hope this helps a littl

The best way to transition to raw is to start slowly and gradually. Set a goal plan of say for one week eat only raw for breakfast. Then the following week eat raw for breakfast and lunch - do this for two weeks. Eat fruits and nuts for snacks. After the two weeks start your evening cooked meal with a large amount of fruits to fill you up and eat small amount of the cooked meal. Do this for

There is a brilliant book called Raw Power by Stephen Arlin which has recipes for bodybuilding while on a raw food diet. I tried his recipes as I too get quite thin while eating raw, even to the point of emaciation, the only problem is that he uses large quantities of nuts. which can not be good in the long term. But it may be good for some who can process nuts efficiently. It would be b

Hi there One of the great benefits I found on the raw food diet is also my skin. I used to have acne and eczema, they not only cleared up but my skin became so clear and luminous and well toned, I was very surprised and quite shocked to be honest. It is so clear that once you get all the garbage out the way and replace with such good food, your health and skin are bound to give you immense

I agree with you that eating the fruit first is best as it digests very quickly leaving you room to eat your cooked food later on. If you eat the fruit after the cooked meals, they will be stuck behind this slowly digesting cooked food until they start to ferment. Not a good situation!

To keep your vegetables fresh for longer try wrapping them up tightly in plastic bags before putting them in the fridge, they should last about 2-3 days.Sometimes longer. Someone asked about combining fruits and nuts in their smoothies. This is usually a bad combination as this can cause indegestion in some people and do not really work well together. You should only have that combination no

Eating a 100% raw food diet in a cold climate is very difficult for most. It's such a struggle as your body is craving some warming foods. If you have some warm vegetable soups and perhaps some steamed veggies, this might just see you through the winter without the depression. 100% raw and a hot climate is an ideal situation!

Another use for papaya seeds:- Digestive enzymes:- Dry them out on your kitchen table or preferably in the sun. Once dried, grind them up in a coffee grinder until it turns to tiny grains. Sprinkle this on any cooked foods and meat products you might eat so they are easier for your body to digest and pass quickly through the body.

I have experienced the same burning sensation in my mouth whenever I eat pineapple. The same goes for everyone else I know who eats it. it seems to happen only with pineapple and no other fruit, organic or not. Perhaps its the high amount of enzymes some people can't tolerate or the fact that they are not cultivated the way that they used to be. Modern agriculature methods can have a huge p

brian 1cs I am talking thousands and thousands of years ago when the general diet was more pure and natural. My comments are in fact true, ypu just need to do a little research. I think though that we are going a little bit off the topic as this post is entitled "a new fast please" Can you recommend a fast for this post?

To "veggiefreak" You can find more details on the coconut fast in the book "Coconut Cures" by Bruce Fife or maybe somewhere on the internet if you do a search on Google. But basically you take those ingredients I mentioned earlier for 7 days. I have also tried out the Master Cleanse last year which is lemons, maple syrup and cayenne pepper, along with a salt water flush

I mentioned the coconut as a nutritional complete food because that's exactly what it is. For generations people in the coconut growing regions of the world use this as their main source of nourishment and health enhancements. I do not mean to literally eat only coconuts everyday for the rest of your life, I am merely stating a point to illustrate how nourishing to your body coconuts are. It

loeve, Yes, you can give that a try. Actually, that sounds fantastic. Though I think 1 coconut will not be enough. You should aim for 3-5 so you don't feel tired and hungry. Also,it would be good to blend the soft while jelly with the coconut water so you are not digesting any solids during the fast. Coconuts are a complete nutritional food, you could practically live off it. Use it as

Maybe a bit of misunderstanding. "byHisHands" was asking for an alternative fast to the lemonade diet. I was merely suggesting another 7 day fast which is the coconut fast. A fast is where you eat no food for the duration. I was suggesting just to make sure to follow the 7 day fast with the raw food diet. I am a raw foodist and know very well all the benefits that raw food br

Hey Communitybuilder I've experienced the same as you. I was 100% raw for about 6 months and lost a lot of weight, I looked emaciated. I am now about 60-70% raw, have put the weight back on and feel much better for it. I feel it is important to find what works for you and your own body rather than concentrating too much what is right for everybody else. What was the reason you decided

You're definatley right about eating coconut fresh and whole without all the processing. That being said, the coconut oil has many health benefits if eaten in the right quantites. Some people find it hard to find good fresh coconuts to get their daily supply of its goodness. That is where the coconut oil will come in very handy.

I tried a fast called the Coconut Fast (not strictly raw, as you have to use coconut oil) - one of the best fast' I have ever tried. You do this for 7 days or more if you can. Ingredients for 1 day:- 10-14 tblsp of coconut oil 2 cups of fresh lemon of lime juice 14 cups of water 2sp of sea salt 1 tbls powered stevia extract Take this everyday for 7 days and continue with your raw f

Vegetable smoothies can be quite bland on their own. To add a bit of kick to the taste try adding some of your favourite fruits to the blend. My favourite though is the juice and flesh of young green coconuts to your greens. Add an avocado and it's really delicious and filling. Try this: 1 green coconut 1 handful spinach 1 handful watercress 1leaf of kale 1 avocado Add a bit of
