Hi! Thank you Sunberry and Janabanana! I haven't tried the goji berries yet either. I wonder if they would be good with some Almond milk...I made some the other day and loved it. I had a mango yesterday with some banana for breakfast, a HUGE salad for lunch and dinner. The mango wasn't so ripe, but a few days on my counter and it was pretty good.

Good evening, Thank you for the responses. I like the idea about freezing the fruit during the peak season and will strive to do that next spring/summer. It's not that there isn't a lot available, but I was in the local produce store the other day and missed seeing the peaches, plums, berries and nectarines that I had gotten used to in the summer. Indeed, there are plenty of apples, banana, avoca

I'm finding that during the colder months, the fruit selections are limited in my area (upstate NY). We have some apples, bananas, oranges, etc; however the berries that were around during the summer are either too expensive, not sweet enough or just not available. I'm still forging ahead with my new way of eating, it's going so great and there is no turning back even if I wanted to. I'm just cur

Thanks! Great ideas! I'm going to try that mushroom soup all on its own, as it sounds utterly delicious. I also think I'll try a kale/greenbean mixture too. I like kale, especially in my morning smoothie. As for frozen fruits, if freezing does not kill the enzymes, I think I will use them more liberally in the winter time. So I assume that it's okay to freeze fruits in the summer to sort of s

Hello everyone! I was just wondering about green beans...I know they can be eaten raw, but was hoping that someone could give me some preparation ideas, just to make them more interesting. Smoothies? Marinated in something? Also...raisins. I read on a raw food webpage about adding raisins to a salad. Are raisins a raw food? I've taken to adding apple to my salads, just to keep from getting bor

Stacey...I'm feeling you about the Blackberry. I just upgraded to the Storm a few months back and wish I had waited for the Iphone to be available for my phone service provider. I think they will be eventually... ..and I loved that thing about the cramps. I get that leg thing too and it's exactly as you described it! Amarynth

I love tomatoes and eat them as often as the desire strikes. Onions I can do without, don't really like them at all; but I do like garlic and I was under the impression that garlic is supposed to be very good for you? The avos..I like them but I need to mix them with something: salad, perhaps a little salt..I find them creamy but somewhat bland. Perhaps I'm not choosing the right ones. Bl

I used to get the TB test once per year, because my employer required it. I suffered no adverse effects from the test, until I tested positive about eight years ago. Apparently my daugher (who tested positive as well) and I were exposed by someone with active TB, and we had to take the INH pills for 9 months. It was a big upset, as it was strongly suggested that everyone in the family get tested.

Thanks Plainlydressed. I'll have to look into it. The doctor's office called earlier today, some of my other bloodwork came in. I also have Lyme Disease. Well, when it rains it pours. I don't even remember being bitten by a tick at all, and I must have had this for a very long time because I've been experiencing these aches and pains, fatigue, etc..for at least a year.

About the past year or so, I've had some lingering joint pain, general aches and soreness all over my body. For about the past six months, my shoulders and arms have been the worst. Some days, the pain was nearly unbearable. I've experienced fatigue, extremely low energy, etc etc..these are part of the reasons I wanted to try the raw food diet...to see if I can get myself and my body into a healt

Hi all! I've been here for a few months. I'm rather shy, quiet and not very assertive at all. I did post a few times and still aspire to do so when something catches my eye. However, with my first post on this forum, the question I had asked was answered at first in a rather abrupt manner by someone, which put me off. There were others, however, who stepped in and offered their sage advice

Happy Birthday Prism!! A raw food cruise would be splendid! I hear they are booking fairly cheap nowadays. Last cruise I went on was back in 1991. Had the best time touring Blackbeards Castle, shopping in St. Thomas and the other islands. Oh..and the nude beach! Hope your day was a great one Prism!

Same here. On the SAD I only had perhaps one poo per day, usually in the morning. Now, I can easily have up to four a day. Three in the morning and sometimes, since I am a night owl and often awake until two or three am...I'll have one just before I go to bed. Those morning green smoothies really do wonders.

Jodi! I love that hehehe And Cappadocious, I'm still new to this but that is pretty much what I'm eating. A big variety of fresh fruits earlier in the day, then a nice large salad with a variety of greens, tomato, peppers etc in the evenings. Now if I can find some raw salad dressings that I would like. I tend to use olive oil, lemon juice and garlic but getting bored with it. Blessed Be~

Thanks! I tried the lemon juice and sea salt and plan on doing it for a couple of days, see how it works. I don't have time for a cold! My mother used to make me gargle with warm water and salt (but not sea salt) when I was a kid, but I had never heard of the lemon juice. Thanks and BB Devon PS-And I just wanted to say, this community is wonderful. I've not found any other raw fo

I saw that heart attack grill place on TV somewhere...just awful and disgusting. I can't imagine why anyone would want to eat there.

I have been working lots of extra hours and have been just..really stressed and busy. It's time for the kids to go back to school, I think. Anyhoo..I'm feeling kind of worn down tonight. I'm thinking that the 14 hour workday and the fact that I only managed about 2 hours sleep last night (I had a REALLY bad dream-unusual for me. I mostly dream about romance and sex ) is a contributing factor to

LOL I guess so! Thanks so much for the input, both of you. I was just wondering because I see other people who each so much more than I do. I don't think I can eat 12 bananas in a single day! I do eat when I'm hungry, but I fill up so fast these days. I just want to make certain I get enough nutrients for my body. My energy is up and I feel good, so I must be doing something right. BB

Hm, interesting. As an avid role player, I have heard the term 'troll' once or twice...but never truly paid any mind to them. In my experience, anyone who 'attempts' to disrupt a subject or thread or in my case, a really great game, is as easily ignored as they are given the attention that they crave. I choose to ignore trolls.

Here is what I had today, now that I look at it, I see that I really didn't have much to eat today at all. I was seriously doing a LOT of running around at work today and didn't have much time to even sit down and eat. I'm actually not really hungry now at all either...just tired. lol. 2 cups green smoothie (Handful of each kale and spinach, 2 bananas, some agave nectar. A bit too much of th

I made another one this morning, and though it was good it was not as knock out as the one I made yesterday. I realized why a little bit later. I forgot the agave and vanilla bean! That's okay, it was still good and I drank it all. That's such a good way of getting the greens in.

I have never in my entire life tried kale, so I bought some the other day with the intent of using it in a smoothie. I wanted to try some before hand however, and ate about a cup of the kale chopped with some tomato, red onion, garlic and some olive oil. Delicious. This morning I decide to use it in my morning smoothie...about 2 handfuls of kale, 2 bananas and a cup of blueberries. I also added a

That has been happening to me, however I use water and sometimes crushed ice in my smoothies. Every morning I have a green smoothie with either spinach or romaine, 2 bananas, and another type of fruit whether it be apple, grapes, cherries or whatever I might have on hand. Then in goes 2 cups of water and goodness do I have to run to the bathroom all morning long! BB Amarynth

Typically when one things Raw in these parts, its for raw oysters, clams etc..however I did find a page that had some very interesting leads on it. I found on retreat called the Moon River Retreat, nestled on the banks of the Hudson River. The town where I live is right along the Hudson so I'm thinking that I've found something. Anyone hear of it? It's a start..at least now I know that I'm no
