Hi everyone, just wanting some info on how to safely ferment foods. I'm a bit paranoid about nasties growing in my food. I'm looking at buying the perfect pickler to do vegetables etc. Looks pretty good and was recommended to me by someone from this forum so thanks a bunch coco and tamukha for your help! I am still wondering about yogurts/cheeses. I would most likely be making them from nut

Pudding sounds really yum! For green smoothies I like this online app - has a alot of combinations. I often just use it for inspiration and invent my own green smoothies. So far the only bad combination I've had was orange, banana & celery greens, completely turned me off celery for ages! But Orange banana & spinach is really yum. And also I've found watermelon & banana don't go toget

Ok is there anywhere to buy in Australia or is there an Australian equivalent to this perfect pickler? I've been wanting to try fermented foods for ever, but I feel a bit iffy about the bad bacteria, this sounds really good. I don't even know if we have "mason" jars in Australia?

I've been doing a lot of reading/youtubing on how to grow sprouts and the like, most experts seem to say that they need a breathable greenhouse environment with indirect light. So I think with wheatgrass this is achieved with an inverted tray (with holes in it) on top.... is this correct? This mold story is disconcerting. But I know from experience it's pretty easy to dry out alfalfa if it's not

Can I sew a nut milk bag? could I just use some muslin... My baby is outgrowing his baby wraps and I thought maybe I could recycle them... but I'm not sure how muslin will go for nut milk fibres, was thinking it might get holey? I don't make nut milk very often, I've never used a nut milk bag. I've never been a big milk drinker, and if I do drink it, I like it sweet, that means almonds + dates

Ha I just joined the forum and know exactly who you are talking about, this Harley and Freelea, they are everywhere. I personally do find their forum trolling kind of annoying, because they do seem to be a little single-minded in their approach and their videos do seem to be pretty much just a statement of their opinion and possibly an advertisement, Some stuff I agree with, some stuff I don't. I

thanks for the soup tips phantom!! I think the soups I have tried have generally been vegetables + water, and I don't have a high speed blender, only a pretty decent food processor, so it turns out a bit chunky.... I will try your tips and also try warming it, I think the toughest thing was the fact that it was stone cold.

I have noticed that my juicer has been struggling lately and sometimes I notice a slight odour - I think it might be possibly overheating?? The juice is not warmed though... I think it might be the motor. It's a horrible centrifugal juicer, of of the ones with the metal spinny thing that's a pain to clean. It's probably about 10 years old, was hardly used in all the time, then I started using

Gosh, I really don't like cooked veg, It looks all soft and floppy haha. Sometimes if steamed lightly enough the colour is nice, but it's a thin line between perfectly steamed and overcooked! I do love fried mushrooms though, bad I know! (I'm not 100% raw, but I'm here to get healthier and increase raw foods) I never cooked veg though because to me I love the fibre of raw veg & the crunch and

why don't you make most of their lunch a big colourful fruit salad. Add in some date/nut balls that you could make the night before or on weekends. Decide what you want them to eat if it's not raw, like maybe some cold potato salad with a raw dressing and baked beans. My daughter will eat carrot sticks with a mild dip, she'll have a few mouthfuls of salad here and there, and she'll have green smo

Natural source of electrolytes is young coconut water. I have heard of "dateorade" I think it's basically dates blended with water, I've seen recipes in (I think) Brendan Brazier's book (thrive nutrition? or something like that) and also in Freelea's ebook, I think the ratios of dates:water vary... try googling it. You could flavour it with fruit juice. You could do both by blendi

I second the garden diet recipes by Storm & Jinjee. I think you can buy a recipe ebook, they recipes are simple, yummy and dehydrator free. Not a lot of pre-preparation required. I have 3 kids myself, it's hard to spend time in the kitchen doing things !! I have a book called Hooked on Raw by Rhio, I absolutely love it, the food is yummy and not complicated and I believe it would be kid fr

Maybe you could have a "whole foods only" caterogy that could be ticked in addition... However I see that the site has a "no cook" option and a "raw food" option. I know that there are recipes out there that could be made raw by using for example raw mayo instead of bought, however I think most raw foodists probably don't want to sift through so many recipes and mayb
